The Role

Surbana Jurong (SJ) Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the JECO Project team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The role involves providing project management and technical oversight of all mechanical works under the PMC scope, ensuring design integrity, compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Mechanical Engineer will act as the client’s representative to monitor, review, and manage contractor and consultant performance on site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review mechanical design documents, shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements for compliance with project requirements.
  • Monitor and supervise contractors’ installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, etc.).
  • Coordinate with design, civil, architectural, and MEP teams to resolve technical and interface issues.
  • Ensure that all works adhere to project specifications, standards, and HSE requirements.
  • Review progress reports, inspection results, and quality documentation.
  • Support technical meetings, design coordination sessions, and handover activities.
Key Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • 10–12 years of relevant experience, including significant exposure to large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
  • Proven experience working in a PMC capacity.
  • Experience in Saudi Arabia or the wider Middle East is preferred.
Key Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Familiarity with international standards and codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, etc.).
  • Proficient in engineering software such as AutoCAD and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and ensure delivery to high quality and safety standards.
