Job Description

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Material Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to involve in monitoring, inspection, coordination, witnessing, documentation of all materials of the project to ensure that the project is constructed as per Contract requirements and specifications.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Review the Contractor's material submittals and obtain the required approvals according to the applicable standards and project specifications.
• Serve as the focal point for the scheduling and control of construction materials and equipment at the job site.
• Conduct inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
• Coordinate work of subconsultants for material testing.
• Maintain office files related to the project, material inspections and write daily diaries.
• Prepare daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contract.
• Verify that only approved materials are incorporated in the work.
• Recognize potential conflicts, issues, and problems on construction materials, and report to supervisor with proposed solution.
• Collect, review and file Certificate of Compliance, MSDS, inspection tags and other information relevant to the materials used.
• May provide technical guidance to lower-level.
• Participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
• Participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
• Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs and charts.
• Observe, check and record work execution is in accordance with approved methods.
• Check material delivered are as approved and properly stored.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years engineering experience and a minimum of 5 years’ experience as material engineer in the specific infrastructure projects.
• Experience in the operations and maintenance of roads, highway, bridges at domestic and/or foreign locations.
• Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions, prepare written messages and simple charts and graphs.

• Ability to comply with multitude of requirements as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards.
• Must be able to recognize hazardous work conditions and take action if necessary.
