As a Mason, you will be responsible for carrying out masonry work, including repairs, installations, and finishing, to ensure the hotel’s facilities remain safe, well-maintained, and aligned with IHG brand standards. You will support the Engineering team by performing skilled work on walls, floors, tiles, and other structures to deliver a comfortable and welcoming environment for guests and colleagues.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform masonry work including block, brick, plaster, tile, marble, and stone installation and repair.
- Repair and maintain walls, floors, ceilings, pathways, and other masonry structures across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house.
- Carry out preventive maintenance to reduce the need for major repairs.
- Respond promptly to work orders and maintenance requests assigned by the Engineering Supervisor.
- Assist with hotel renovation, refurbishment, and construction projects.
- Mix, prepare, and apply mortar, plaster, grout, or other materials as required.
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used safely and maintained properly.
- Work collaboratively with other Engineering trades (carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical) to deliver smooth property maintenance.
- Adhere to safety, security, and hygiene procedures at all times.
- Record and report completed tasks and highlight any defects requiring further action.
Accountability
- Ensure all masonry works are completed safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to guests.
- Directly responsible for maintaining high-quality finishes in walls, floors, and tiled surfaces throughout the property.
- Reports to the Engineering Supervisor / Chief Engineer and collaborates with other technicians.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or technical certification in masonry or related field.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Mason, preferably in hospitality, construction, or property maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of masonry materials, tools, and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret measurements, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Basic knowledge of health & safety standards.
- Physically fit to handle manual tasks and moderate lifting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
