JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

This high-profile role will support the technical development of both engineering and manufacturing solutions associated with future Salam Industrialisation projects.
Success in the position will be dependent on establishing and maintaining close relations with both in‑Kingdom Suppliers and UK based Design Organisations. The development of in‑Kingdom manufacturing solutions is an area of significant growth for BAE Systems Saudi Arabia, this role will play a pivotal role shaping and driving forward these new and challenging initiatives.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Engineering management and planning to be completed for all Typhoon Capability Insertion, In‑Kingdom manufacturing and MRO programmes ensuring that technical deliverables satisfy Customer and Project milestones.
- BAE Systems Air UK manufacturing and MRO governance is consistently complied with on all Typhoon In‑Kingdom manufacturing and maintenance programmes and full Lifecycle Management is applied.
- Robust Requirements Management, Configuration Management and Change Control processes for all Typhoon Capability Insertion and In‑Kingdom manufacturing and MRO programmes are developed and maintained in compliance to BAESSA and Salam engineering policies. This responsibility is primarily related to requirements and configuration management of BAESSA/KSA Supplier contracts and associated technical data. Product configuration will be a responsibility of the relevant Design Organisation.
- Technical Subject Matter Expertise (SME) is provided for all in‑Kingdom manufacturing and MRO engineering issues on the Typhoon Programmes including provision of guidance and support to Saudi Industry.
- Manufacturing and Engineering processes and procedures are established that assure successful end to end execution of the manufacturing and MRO lifecycle from concept to First Article Inspection: e.g. Business Opportunity identification, Technical Data Pack generation, Supplier Selection, Supplier Approval, Manufacturing / Engineering Query Management; First Article Control. Processes and procedures are to comply with BAE Systems Air UK Manufacturing and Engineering Governance whilst also ensuring localised In‑Kingdom requirements are satisfied.
- Prime Contractor Technical Management of the Typhoon IKIP Manufacturing and MRO projects is provided ensuring effective co‑ordination, interfacing and over‑sight between the Design Organisation and Saudi Industry for all technical matters up to and including First Article Control.
- Leading activities within the IKIP team for the Manufacturing LCM reviews including supporting artefacts (eg. Tailoring Statements) are produced and agreed with both the BAE Systems Saudi Arabia PMA and EA.
- Support functional engineering capability development that includes tools & process improvements, continuous development & training.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
- Extensive aerospace and defence manufacturing company/industry knowledge, managing significant and diverse manufacturing projects.
- Desirably educated to Honours degree level or equivalent in a technically related subject.
- A clear and demonstrable Subject Matter Expert who understands the Technical aspects of Manufacturing and Quality aspects and processes required to be able to successfully implement an effective Supplier Management system.
- Deep understanding and experience of all parts of the manufacturing lifecycle from business winning and bid work through to in‑service support and disposal.
- Have a detailed understanding and experience of the processes and policies governing the manufacture and production of aerospace components and practical experience in their application.
- Have domain knowledge of RSAF and RAF operating procedures.
- Ideally with previous knowledge of Business with KSA, the KSA culture, and working with Saudi Industry suppliers.
- Ideally previous Typhoon Programme and Product knowledge, Industrialisation and Technology transfer experience.
- Deep understanding in application of the BAE SYSTEMS Operational Framework, Life Cycle Management, Manufacturing Management, Project Management, Engineering Management, Quality Management, Safety Management, Managing Sub‑contractors, procurement, supplier selection.
- Have an understanding and knowledge of aircraft standards and regulations.
- Qualified Quality Lead Assessor (EN 9110 based).
- Excellent communication and networking skills and the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders and develop technical relationships with our customer, supporting business units and services.
- Excellent understanding of the development and application of engineering process, organisational design, functional governance, assurance and its successful deployment.
- The Job Holder is required to be a proven communicator and must demonstrate a minimum level of English Language capability (IELTS 6) across comprehension, verbal and written aspects.
