The opportunity

The Technical Accounting & IFRS role is responsible for providing high-quality technical accounting support and advisory services to clients in Saudi Arabia. The position focuses on complex IFRS matters, application of accounting standards, preparation and review of technical accounting papers, and supporting clients with the implementation, interpretation, and application of IFRS. The role contributes to enhancing the quality of financial reporting, strengthening accounting governance, and supporting clients in addressing complex transactions and regulatory requirements.

This role operates within EY’s Financial Accounting Advisory Services (FAAS) and requires strong technical expertise, professional judgment, and the ability to work with senior client stakeholders.

Your key responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for providing technical accounting advisory services to clients on complex IFRS matters. They will be preparing high-quality technical accounting memoranda, position papers, and reports. Moreover, they will support clients with the adoption, interpretation, and practical application of IFRS standards and will also advise on accounting implications of complex transactions, new standards, and regulatory developments.

Furthermore, they will assist clients in enhancing financial reporting quality, accounting policies, and internal controls over financial reporting. While supporting audit teams and clients in resolving complex accounting matters and delivering consistent accounting outcomes. Plus, it will also contribute to internal technical knowledge building, training, and quality initiatives within the FAAS practice.

To qualify for the role, you must have
  • A recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, ACA, ACCA, CPA).
  • Should have six plus years for relevant experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and its application in practice.
  • Experience within a Big 4 or other leading professional services firm.
  • Strong English communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality written technical accounting deliverables.
  • Strong technical research, analytical skills, and professional judgment.
  • Ability to interpret complex accounting standards and articulate clear recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to quality, continuous learning, and maintaining technical excellence.
