Job Purpose
The role will be responsible for the delivery of field operations and maintenance activities across wet utilities, including seawater desalination plants, sewage treatment plants, and waste management treatment plants within the infrastructure realm of RSU, ensuring seamless support for all field-based users of utilities services.
This role will be in charge of handling end‑to‑end field operations and maintenance processes specific to wet utility infrastructure within RSU. He/she shall ensure flawless functional execution towards up‑keep of necessary wet infrastructure, including hydroelectric power plants, reservoirs, and associated transmission & distribution systems through on‑site teams deployed on‑ground by providing clear directions & necessary decision support. This role shall also contribute toward promoting continuous improvement across operational methods adopted by the department.
The role holder will collaborate closely with senior management, various utility departments and asset owners to ensure effective coordination and communication. Maintain coordination with the RSU Dry & Technology Team.
The role will also assist in managing the maintenance and reliability strategy, field operational objectives, and field maintenance operations.
Responsibilities
Strategic Contribution
- Provide inputs to leadership on daily reporting and operational and maintenance issues and improvements.
- Support in the formulation of functional strategies and roadmaps required to manage seamless delivery of field operations & maintenance services across wet utilities thereby aligned to RSU goals.
- Ensure prompt attending to operational faults or maintenance repairs within wet utilities section and provide resolution within agreed timelines.
- Ensure maintenance and operation of all wet utility assets (across generation, transmission & distribution) to maximum efficiency and reliability.
Field Operations & Maintenance
- Ensure smooth running of daily operational activities concerning field operations and maintenance across wet utility facilities (including the seawater desalination plants, sewage treatment plants and the waste management treatment facilities) through provisioning of prompt and efficient service delivery to customers.
- Contribute to the development and execution of operational strategies aimed at improving the performance of field operations across wet utilities and ensuring the reliability and quality of services offered.
- Ensure periodic monitoring of on‑ground wet utility facilities and wet infrastructure related equipment conditions as per the guidelines and identify opportunities for preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure optimal availability and reliability.
- Ensure timely allocation of the field work force to the site in‑order to manage normal or disturbed state operations, responding to emergency, and restoring the water supply.
- Support in managing escalations of risks and coordinating responses to minimize operational impact across wet utilities.
- Implement corrective actions identified specific to wet utilities during emergencies, operational disruptions, equipment breakdowns, or quality concerns, under the guidance of the leadership team.
- Proactively manage compliance across processes, guidelines, and operational efficiency measures, within the purview of field operations & maintenance across wet utilities under the guidance of the leadership team.
- Assist in handling escalations related to compliance issues and contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
- Provide relevant inputs to leadership regarding the improvement of operational procedures within the field operations & maintenance function pertaining to wet utilities, substantiating with relevant on‑ground data points & functional logs.
- Ensure supervision of on‑ground system maintenance activities, including issuance of work order to relevant authorities for conducting regular on‑site checks, repairs, and component replacements across wet utilities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, laws, regulations, and safety guidelines within field operations and maintenance activities specific to wet utilities.
- Partner with teams to promote safety, sustainability, quality, production, and reliability within field operations & maintenance functions.
Risk Management
- Identify different aspects of risk pertaining to wet utilities field operations and maintenance and develop mitigation measures to negate or minimize the effect of these risks and avoid potential delays as well as added cost.
- Report regularly on the key business risks specific to wet utilities field operations & maintenance to the management.
Leadership & People Management
- Coordinate the activities of any suppliers or vendors pertaining to wet utilities field operations & maintenance to ensure that all work is carried out efficiently, in line with the strategic project management plans, policies and procedures.
- Serve as a role model to ensure employees’ awareness and commitment to RSG vision, mission, values, fundamentals, and corporate strategy to establish a highly engaged and motivated human resources, and continuously improve performance.
Policies, Systems, Processes, Procedures, Standards and Reports
- Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Prepare accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies, and standards.
- Analyze operational and maintenance‑related processes to eliminate redundancy and identify potential avenues to merge across workstreams thereby improving the overall operational performance.
Safety, Quality & Environment
- Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high‑quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify for continuous improvement to the department’s systems, processes and practices considering ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
- Assess operational processes and develop improvement strategies to enhance efficiency and continuously enhance reliability.
- Ensure that all operations are carried out according to best practices and standards, adopt technology to improve efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor's or master's in engineering with Mechanical/Process/Chemical Engineering.
- 6‑8 years of relevant experience with at least 2 years in a managerial position, preferably large sustainable infrastructure utilities project.
- Experience in KSA and GCC countries.
