Job summary

A leading mining company in Saudi Arabia is seeking an experienced engineer to manage projects and provide technical input for mining studies. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in engineering and 10-15 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include managing study teams, ensuring compliance with international standards, and delivering studies successfully. Proficient English is mandatory, and multiple language skills are a plus.

Job description
Key Accountabilities
  • Assist the SPD Director in managing the department, including budgets, resources, corporate reporting, EHSS, Risk and stakeholder management.
  • Provide technical input for and produce mining engineering studies from Scoping/Conceptual through to Feasibility Studies working within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Responsible for resourcing and managing a competent study team, developing project scope, schedule and budget, study contract administration, and managing, supervising and coordinating the work of both internal resources and external consultants and other service providers in collaboration with SPD management, Maaden Exploration, BM&NM Operations, MRM and Technical Services, EHSS and Corporate Shared Services.
  • Ensure that the work that he and his study team are executing is in accordance with International Standards, Government policy, permitting and legal requirements, Maaden Stage Gate and EHSS requirements and standards, and compliant with Corporate Sustainability and Quality Assurance goals and processes.
  • Provide technical solutions and guidance during studies covering geology, mining engineering, metallurgical test work, process, infrastructure and services and general engineering.
  • To deliver, with his study teams, a high standard of professional work that reflects Maaden’s unique requirements and grows the business’ reputation.
  • Assume when required the role of Project/Study Manager to deliver studies that meet stakeholder expectations and are on time and within budget.
  • Generate professional, accurate and concise technical reports and written communications.
  • Training, mentoring and coaching of staff and contract employees to support career development goals and meet the department goals and KPIs.
  • Communicate effectively with corporate, operating and technical groups and liaise with outside agencies to meet the department’s overall objectives.
  • Be accountable for the risk management of the studies under his management.
  • Be accountable for the appropriate permitting, licensing and liaison with authorities.
  • Be accountable for the Quality Control and Assurance of his assigned work, and participate in, facilitate, and conduct, as required, reviews and workshops to ensure compliance with corporate and industry standards and expectations. This includes guiding the studies under his management through IPR and subsequent presentation of the projects to Management.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications
  • Mandatory bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Additional qualifications, training and/or experience in mining engineering, process engineering, Risk Management, QA/QC, Project and Study Management and Controls are required.
Minimum Experience
  • At least 10-15 years project, study and mining experience, with a preference for specific experience in the development and verification of base metals and minerals projects in terms of sustainability, feasibility and corporate strategy.
Skills
  • Computer literate, with a working knowledge of mine design, scheduling and engineering software, and corporate enterprise systems.
  • Proficient in English, and in the use of English for written and verbal communications. Multiple language skills will be appreciated.
  • Display the ability to work in, and lead as required, multi-disciplinary teams with of both external and internal resources
