Job summary

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Operational Maintenance & Systems Management
  • Monitor, inspect, maintain and repair building services and equipment: HVAC systems, chillers/cooling towers, boilers, generators, domestic water systems, pumps, lifts, lighting, kitchen equipment, pool & spa systems, plumbing, etc.

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and ensure systems operate efficiently, consistently and safely.

  • Respond promptly to engineering/guest service requests and breakdowns, minimize downtime and coordinate urgent repairs.

  • Log all activities, complete shift hand-over reports, maintain maintenance logbooks and checklists.

  • Monitor energy consumption and assist in implementing energy-saving and sustainability initiatives.

Coordination & Communication
  • Act as the on-duty engineering representative during your shift; coordinate with other departments (Housekeeping, Front Office, F&B, Security, Maintenance) to support guest operations and resolve issues quickly.

  • Report major equipment failures, safety hazards or operational risks to Senior/Chief Engineer.

  • Assist in training or guiding junior engineers/technicians during the shift as needed.

Safety, Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all systems and maintenance practices comply with local regulations (fire, health & safety, mechanical/electrical codes) and the hotel’s operational standards.

  • Conduct regular rounds of guest floors, plant rooms, public areas and back-of-house to verify safe and appropriate conditions.

  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools and equipment, ensure proper storage and usage.

  • After shift, ensure proper hand-over to next shift with all outstanding tasks, pending work, and critical issues documented.

Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management or related technical field.

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in engineering / maintenance role within a 4- or 5-star hotel, resort or large facility. (For this brand/hotel likely higher preferred.)

  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, electrical systems, plumbing and general building services.

  • Ability to read technical drawings/schematics, use maintenance software/systems and complete shift/hand-over documentation.

  • Good communication skills in English; additional language skills (Arabic) would be an advantage.

  • Strong problem-solving attitude, able to work independently during shift and cope with pressure and urgent breakdown situations.

  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Additional Information
Additional Desired Competencies
  • Previous experience working in an international hotel brand (such as Mövenpick/Accor) will be a plus. (E.g., similar job adverts emphasise guest-focused engineering roles in multi-department hotel operations.)

  • Awareness of sustainability and energy-conservation practices in a hospitality environment.

  • Good team-spirit, able to coordinate with multi-cultural teams.

  • High standard of personal presentation and adherence to brand culture and guest service ethos.

Working Conditions
  • The role operates on a shift basis (morning/afternoon/night) including weekends and public holidays.

  • Must be available for emergency call-outs within the shift.

  • Work involves plant-rooms, roof-tops, service corridors, guest areas and outdoor equipment areas; may require physical activity, climbing ladders, working at heights, heat/humidity environments typical of Riyadh.

  • The hotel setting demands awareness of guest presence, maintaining quiet and safe operations for guest comfort.
