Overall Job Purpose

Provide technical leadership (specific plant/operations and part of bordering value chain) to ensure continuous, effective and efficient plant/production operations through the control and operation of chemical processes, systems and or machines, with strict adherence to safety and operational regulations, rules and procedures.

  • Control or maintain auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, compressors, condensers, feedwater heaters, filters, or chlorinators, to supply water, fuel, lubricants, air, or auxiliary power
  • Control power generating equipment, including boilers, turbines, generators, or reactors, using control boards or semi-automatic equipment
  • Advice on and move control settings to start, stop or make necessary adjustments on machinery and equipment units affecting speeds of chemical reactions, quality, or yields, etc.
  • Leading role in start and shut down and start-up of plant equipment following due processes and procedures
  • Oversee transportation and storage of flammable and other potentially dangerous products to ensure that safety guidelines are followed
  • Manage monitoring of recording instruments, flowmeters, panel lights, gauges, dials or other indicators and listen for warning signals to verify conformity of process conditions
  • Manage monitoring of equipment functioning, observe temperature, level, and flow gauges, and perform regular unit checks to ensure that all equipment is operating as it should, safety, and efficient operation, and to pro-actively detect malfunction
  • Manage operation of compressors, scrubbers, evaporators, and refrigeration equipment to liquefy, compress, or regasify natural gas
  • Review and interpret operations records, test results, and gauge readings such as temperatures, pressures, concentrations, and flows
  • Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations following protocol
  • Inspect/lead inspection of operating units, such as towers, soap-spray storage tanks, scrubbers, collectors, or driers to ensure that all are functioning and to maintain maximum efficiency
  • Contribute ensuring compliance to HSERQ requirements
