Job Description
- Act as site representative for all matters related to structural works, ensuring compliance to projects design and specifications, inclusive of any and all other project requirements.
- Monitor & Control the progress of structural works against the approved Baseline schedule and report on any discrepancies observed.
- Review and approval of contractors’ construction sequencing to ensure that all structural elements are correctly planned.
- Review material approval requests, submittals, method statements, inspection & test plans, and shop drawings.
- Review and approve all temporary works designs and sequencing.
- Development and implementation of all ‘High Risk’ structural activities ‘Go-No Go’ applications.
- Coordination with the HSE Manager in the review of all Lift Plans and Lifting Operations inspections.
- Ensure that all necessary documents are submitted by the temporary works designer, including drawings, calculations, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Verify that structural calculations to ensure that they are complete, correct, and reflect the actual site conditions. This includes load calculations, material strengths, stability checks, and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and Client requirements.
- Ensure the design is compliant with the relevant standards, codes of practice, legal requirements, and Client requirements. This will include, but is not limited to, local regulations, global industry standards agreed with the Client, and Client's Temporary Works Procedure.
- Verify that the design ensures structural stability throughout all stages of the construction, including erection, use, and dismantling.
- Review the design with regard to how it may be practically built across all stages of construction. This review will consider factors including existing and future (if relevant) site conditions, available spaces, and required resources; and must account for erection, maintenance, inspection, and dismantling procedures.
- Ensure that safety measures are adequately addressed in the design, including access, edge protection, and fall prevention.
- Confirm if potential risks are identified and mitigated by the Contractor. Ensure that the design includes measures to address risks such as overload, impact, or environmental factors such as wind.
- Ensure that there are clear instructions for inspections, monitoring, and maintenance throughout the use of temporary works.
- Supervise and inspect the execution of the temporary works in line with BS5975.
- Liaise with the Contractor, Client Representatives, Site Engineers, and Sub-contractors for matters related to structural works. Review and approval of contractors' and subcontractors' structural elements inspection reports and third-party test results.
- Review and approval of civil/structural elements sequencing, installation, and erection with regard to the required safety and quality requirements.
- Provide accurate data and information to QS for the valuation process.
- Track and monitor material and works inspection requests.
- Monitor contractor’s structural, civil, and infrastructure works to ensure compliance with specifications, plans, and drawings. Supervise the Civil/Structural engineering team.
- Liaise with client representatives (designers), contractors, site engineers, and sub-contractors on issues related to structural/civil construction works.
- Provide accurate information and data to the QA/QC Manager for inclusion in the CS Consultants' Progress Reports and presentations. Attend coordination meetings with project team, client, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Review and verify corrective actions established for NCRs and Discrepancy Reports.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 10 years of experience in Building Construction Projects
- Experience in using EDMS Software, e.g., Aconex, etc.
- Well-versed with MS Office Applications.
- Knowledgeable in local and international codes and standards, e.g., SBC, CSI, etc.
