Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

Al Borg Diagnostics, a leading provider of diagnostic health services, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lab Specialist to join our team. As a Lab Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate and efficient testing procedures, and maintaining high-quality standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
  2. They follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
  3. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  4. Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
  5. Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, such as blood and urine, using microscope or automatic analyzer to detect abnormalities or diseases, and enter findings into computer.
  6. Set up, adjust, maintain and clean medical laboratory equipment.
  7. Collect blood from patients, observing principles of asepsis to obtain blood sample.
  8. Responsible for all quality and safety improvement related to his job.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned by lab supervisor and director.

Experience:

  1. Previous experience in a supervisory or management role in a laboratory setting is preferred.
  2. Experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) is a plus.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
  2. Proven experience working as a Lab Specialist or in a similar role.
  3. Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, protocols, and equipment.
  4. Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately perform laboratory tests.
  5. Solid understanding of quality control measures and regulatory requirements.
  6. Experience in developing and implementing laboratory protocols and guidelines.
  7. Ability to train and mentor laboratory staff.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  9. Strong organizational and time management skills.
  10. Must be SCFHS certified.
