DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute laboratory tests as authorized and according to established protocols.
• Perform specimen handling, processing, and testing with a focus on accuracy and speed.
• Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
• Adhere to quality control guidelines and document all necessary quality assurance activities.
• Conduct analyses of various biological samples and report results promptly.
• Follow established safety procedures to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist in training and mentoring junior lab staff, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory operations.
• Complete additional tasks as directed by laboratory management.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
• Proven experience working as a Lab Specialist or in a similar laboratory role.
• In-depth knowledge of laboratory operations, testing procedures, and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in performing laboratory tests.
• Understanding of quality control processes and regulatory compliance in the laboratory setting.
• Ability to develop and implement laboratory protocols effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills collaborate with team members.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Certification from SCFHS is mandatory.

EXPERIENCE

• Previous supervisory experience in a laboratory setting is preferred.
• Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS) is a valuable asset.
