Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviews, interprets, clarifies doctor’s medication orders and verifies all order doses, duration, and checks for potential drug‑to‑drug interaction and clinical indication. Communicates with ordering doctor in case of any ambiguity or concern.
- Oversees the preparation of the verified medications, performs double‑checking and review of proper labeling for the prepared medications and then dispenses.
- Calculates the amount of the drug product to dispense for a prescription based upon body weight and patient age.
- Responsible for tracking on the whiteboard all patients that have discharge orders and immediately preparing take‑home medications, refunding/ arranging for return of dispensed and non‑administered medication.
- Follows all medication safety procedures when dispensing medications.
- Maintains inventory control & security of all drugs, record‑keeping and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications.
- Identifies and appropriately handles nearly expired medications according to Fakeeh Care policies and NEVER dispenses a medication beyond its expiry date.
- Participates in chemotherapy preparations program (order verification, protocol checking, etc.) if applicable.
- Participates in the intravenous admixture preparations program, mixing and checking including total parenteral nutrition.
- Properly completes charging of patients for dispensed medications.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper storage & handling of hazardous materials found in the workplace, as well as first‑aid measures necessary for accidental exposure.
- Demonstrates knowledge & skills in utilizing formulary, identification of generic substitution and indication.
- Practices and fully complies with current infection prevention and control standards when handling medications and preparing IV and TPN formulas.
- Contributes to training and induction orientation for newly hired pharmacists and students and trainees.
- Reports to pharmacy supervisor/manager and enters on OVR any encountered medication error or ADR.
- Attends continuing education programs to maintain expertise in Pharmacy and required licensure.
- Ensures enrollment in continuous education program regarding medication management practices, high‑risk medications, medication errors and others.
- Educates patients and their families about health conditions, treatments and preventative measures if applicable.

- Actively strive to upgrade professional skills through engaging in appropriate professional training and experience.
Experience
0 – 2 years of experience in hospital pharmacy setting.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree of Pharmacy.
Language
Good command of oral and written English.
Licenses / Certifications
License for practice as per the regional health regulatory authority e.g. SCFHS / DHA.
