Job Purpose
The IT Network Administrator is responsible for maintaining, securing, and optimizing the company’s on-premises and cloud network infrastructure across multiple sites. This role ensures stable, high-performance connectivity for all business operations while proactively managing network security, reliability, and scalability. Success in this position is defined by consistent uptime, minimal incidents, and continuous improvements to network performance and resilience.
Key Accountability
- Administer and support LAN/WAN networks, firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points, and VPN tunnels across all sites and datacenter.
- Implement and maintain network security controls, including firewall rules, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and VPN access. Monitor traffic using SIEM or NMS tools to detect and resolve anomalies.
- Perform regular network tuning, upgrades, patch management, and security configurations.
- Respond to network outages and resolve connectivity issues promptly.
- Manage network access controls, user rights, and secure remote access systems.
- Conduct regular backups of network configurations and recovery testing.
- Collaborate with the cybersecurity team to ensure firewall, IPS/IDS, and other protections are in place and up to date.
- Implement and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and inventory records.
- Manage and optimize network integration with cloud environments (Azure, Microsoft 365, and any hosted systems), ensuring secure hybrid connectivity through SD-WAN or MPLS.
- Install, configure, and maintain network devices, servers, and collaboration systems (VOIP, Cisco Call Manager, Teams, CCTV). Ensure adherence to standard configuration baselines.
- Act as Level 2/3 support for escalated network incidents. Diagnose, document, and resolve root causes to prevent recurrence.
- Support system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments from a networking perspective.
- Analyze and report on network health, usage, and incident trends.
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware maintenance, replacements, and service escalations.
- Assist with capacity planning and recommend network improvements and innovations.
- Ensure all networking activities are compliant with IT security and operational policies.
Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Networks, or related field.
- Minimum 4-5 years of hands-on experience in network administration or similar role.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF).
- Solid knowledge of IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and network segmentation.
- Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, HPE/Aruba, and firewall configurations.
- Familiarity with collaboration systems (Microsoft Teams, Cisco VOIP) and CCTV infrastructure.
- Exposure to virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V) and network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, FortiAnalyzer).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like PRTG, SolarWinds, or similar.
- Knowledge of ITIL or service management processes is a plus.
- Industry certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, Fortinet NSE, etc.).
