Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Industrial Engineer, highly skilled and experienced in Body‑in‑White (BIW) process responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, ensuring efficient utilization of resources, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in a highly automated automotive production environment. This role focuses on process design, layout optimization, cycle time analysis and integration of advanced technologies such as robotics and PLC systems. The successful candidate will drive process definition, improvements and support the achievement of shop KPIs.

You Will
  • Develop and implement efficient BIW manufacturing processes, including robotics and assembly operations.
  • Conduct time studies, line balancing, and ergonomic assessments to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Lead feasibility studies for new product introduction and process changes.
  • Collaborate with Operations, ME, and Quality teams to verify line readiness and address early build issues.
  • Design and optimize plant layouts for BIW operations, ensuring smooth material flow and compliance with safety standards.
  • Analyze production capacity and recommend improvements to meet volume targets.
  • Support a team of process engineers and specialists across shifts and areas (underbody, framing, closures, etc.).
  • Lead Kaizen, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve cycle time, scrap rate, and equipment utilization.
  • Collaborate with ME, design, quality, logistics, and production for seamless process integration.
  • Support process changes and line upgrades with minimal production disruption.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate PLCs and robotic systems.
  • Support troubleshooting and optimization of BIW automation systems.
  • Ensure adherence to automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001) and safety regulations.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process‑related issues.
  • Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including PFMEA, control plans, work instructions, and SOPs.
  • Apply understanding of Buy Off Book process for handover from Manufacturing Engineering to Operations.
You Bring
  • Strong understanding of BIW processes, welding technologies, and automation systems.
  • Proficiency in industrial engineering tools such as time studies, line balancing, PFMEA, and ergonomics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive BIW or similar manufacturing environments.
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Proven track record in high‑volume manufacturing environments, preferably OEM or Tier 1 supplier.
