POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Assistant Nursing Director, the Head Nurse assumes twenty-four-hour responsibility for managing the human and material resources of the assigned unit.
Leads and manages the provision of high-quality nursing care in an environment that fosters staff growth and promotes both patient and staff satisfaction.
Develops and implements the nursing operational plan within the unit that aligns with the nursing strategy to achieve the company’s mission and vision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that all care provided is regularly and systematically evaluated against expected outcomes, with necessary changes implemented.
- Ensure principles and standards of national and international accreditation organizations are maintained at all times. Receive and investigate OVRS in a timely manner to determine the nature of issues and take corrective actions as appropriate.
- Participate as an integral member of a multicultural and multidisciplinary healthcare team, demonstrating a high level of professional practice.
- Act as a role model and clinical resource for the nursing team, ensuring staff are aware of the expected standards of professional behavior.
- Plan and forecast staffing requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from a recognized college.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive post-graduate experience, including 2 years recent acute hospital experience as a Head Nurse or Senior Nursing Post. Previous experience in a multicultural environment is preferred.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Licensing: Certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, and relevant courses according to area of sub-specialty. Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to achieve operational efficiencies, and manage budgets. Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills. Broad knowledge of the healthcare system.
- Languages: Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
