Job description

This position is for PaxOcean Group, a company under Kuok Group Singapore.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Read and understand technical specifications, prepare job-list, work schedule, plan material take off and manpower planning of yard men and contractor for each given jobs. Trigger early warning to commercial and production team for potential technical or manpower challenges for all repair or projects.

  • Able to independently carry out estimating and commercial bidding to clients.

  • Understand the supply chain markets and costing in Saudi Arabia for fabrication, mechanical and electrical repairs for OSVs.

  • Able to work well with JV partners to coordinate effective support in Kingdom.

  • Detail forecast for manpower loading, project loading and materials arrival, including all facilities.

  • Generate, control and monitor MRO outfit budgets.

  • Review & approval of the material required as per material take off and co-ordinate with purchase department for timely delivery of the materials

  • Cooperate with clients, commercial, subcontracting and production on appropriate procedures and schedule to complete the job.

  • Ensure adherence of safety, discipline and welfare for all subordinates.

  • Supervise and ensure all subordinates execute ship repairs and offshore fabrication as per specifications and to the satisfaction of the owner/class & timely completion. Ensure good quality work and safety requirement. Ensure all trade work mark-up drawings to be made and approved by owner’s representative.

  • Drive the desire to all staff to always maintain good housekeeping and safety on board vessel & workshops. Ensure all workers follow safe work procedures.

  • Responsible for minimum wastage of materials and balance materials to be accounted at the end of the project.

  • Prepare, review and setup of department documents (RA, SOP, Internal & External auditing, OR) with production tea

  • Lead and manage all supervisor foreman and sub-contractors.

  • Ensuring optimum work processes and equipment utilization.

  • Represent the department in daily production and management meeting.

  • Ensure all work done report to be completed by ship in-charge, verify & submit to owner rep before prior handing over to commercial department on time (before vessel delivery)

  • Monitoring vessel daily job deployment report to achieve target on time.

  • Perform other related jobs as assigned by production managers.

  • Ensure Permit to work system is followed strictly by all staff.

  • Undertake other tasks as directed by department head Plan out and prepare all permits to work system related to marine safety, prepare risk analysis (RA), conduct RA briefing before starting work.

  • Prepare tools, equipment, transportation, materials and manpower, control man hours for all given jobs.

  • Ensure subcontractors works order to be raised immediately after confirmation of jobsAlign business objectives with management and employees in designated business / functions


  • Degree & above related to Naval / Marine Engineering Discipline or equivalent

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in related industry / environment

  • Able to read and interpret repair and project specifications, Technical Drawings,

  • Able to generate plan tools/ equipment/ material take off, prepare project schedule and input manpower loading forecast.

  • Able to read and understand ship structural drawing, mechanical system and classification requirements.

  • Good Computer, Microsoft Project, AutoCAD skills.

  • Willing to work overseas and in irregular hours for any critical and hazardous activities.

  • Able to motivate and give ideas to subordinates.

  • Able to identify potential problems and take corrective actions which can delay the project schedule.

  • Able to lead, invigorate and motivate fellow staff.

  • Experience in working on offshore projects, conversion & repair vessels inclusive of material take off generation and project management.

  • Familiar with Saudi Maritime & International rules and regulation.
