Arena are global leaders in delivering large scale temporary infrastructure and integrated event solutions. We design and build with temporary modular structures creating spaces that look and feel permanent for a wide variety of sporting, commercial and cultural events across the globe.
Our Modular Team is a small start-up style team focused on the design and build of projects requiring authority approvals to permanent level code for longer term projects lasting from 6 months to 10 years.
We are passionate about modular, temporary structures and their fit out for sporting, hospitality, F&B, community asset and commercial projects and are working with principals of DfMA to deliver fast track, collaborative projects both with our own proprietary modular systems and third party products.
We require strong all-round multi-disciplinary design professionals with design & build experience and a confident level of technical design and delivery experience, to be hands on throughout the design process. Architecture or Interior Design background is preferred.

Position Description:
Job Title: Freelance Senior Architect
Reporting Into: Modular Team Design Manager & Project Design Manager (on assigned projects)
Direct Reports: Visualizer, Junior Architect, Senior Technical Designer (Project reporting only)
Location: Dubai, UAE
Job Objective:
To be accountable for designing, all aspects of a project’s design across all design packages for our Modular structure projects.
Ensure that the design process from defining the brief with the client to concept creation, through developed and technical design phases, and Authority approvals is carried out in a collaborative and professional way, following Arena’s defined Standard Operating Procedures.
Responsibility for ensuring that all projects, are delivered with creativity and design flair at their heart with Arena’s design style maintained.
Responsibility for ensuring the integrity of the design intent is maintained across the development and delivery of a project within the client’s budget and Arena’s contract obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing RFIs to ensure the timely flow of information to and from all parties to facilitate the creative process and schedule.
- Assisting clients and our commercial team in creating accurate and realistic project briefs.
- Preparation of high-level design studies, mood boards, sketches and zoning plans
- To ensure a thorough and clear brief to other members of the design team so they can execute their responsibilities efficiently
- so that we might assess feasibility and secure suitable projects
- Site visits, assessment of surveys, and preparation site studies.
- Production of plans, elevations and detail drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT for Architecture, Interiors, FF&E layouts, finish plans, architectural detailing, lighting, and joinery details.
- Production, with Senior Technical Designer, of detailed technical drawing packages for interior design requirements.
- Effective communication of all design related discussions and decisions with project stakeholders, including but not limited to the Client, design department leadership, Commercial, Estimating, Technical team, Structural Engineer, consultants and contractors to ensure good co-ordination on designs.
- Ensuring that the project’s Design Manager and department leadership are aware of all stages of the project and working closely with them to ensure that the designs are on brief and approved.
- Assisting the team with the resolution of design clashes and conflicts to expediate the design and delivery process. Ensuring all involve parties are informed.
- Ensuring designs are being produced with a DfMA and fast track mindset to ensure successful and timely delivery by our project delivery teams.
- Reviewing design packages before submittal to ensure all information is correct.
- Ensuring that all drawing packages and submittals meet the relevant Authority requirements and incorporate all stakeholder comments.
- Ensuring that all Design Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to on your allocated projects ensuring proper organization and documentation of projects.
- Building connections with suppliers and understanding the market
- Awareness of furniture trends and suppliers both locally and internationally.
- Staying up to date with technical knowledge, latest software developments and Ai tools and rendering packages to ensure we remain at forefront of technology developments.
- Assisting project management team with document control and drawing related queries.
- Preparation and updating of schedules.
- Preparation of material submittals, specifications and schedules.
- Briefing and coordinating with the Estimating team during the tendering and pricing process to ensure our designs are on brief and within budget.
- Briefing and coordinating with Technical and Project Management teams on the delivery of a design.
- Reviewing Contractor’s submittals ensuring alignment with the overall design intent.
- Recommending value engineering and design modifications where suitable to assist with controlling project costs and help the team meet commercial objectives.
- Be on Site to support delivery team and ensure build is being implemented in alignment with the approved design.
- Conducts technical evaluation reviews for material samples to ensure that the new facilities are built to operate reliably & according to approved design and Arena standards.
- Convenes and chairs technical, commercial, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings and brings updates and critical issues forward that may impact stakeholders and progress
- Selects and approves finishes, colors, benchmark mock-ups, and model rooms in line with projects specifications, mood boards and client requirements,
Key Skills:
- AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up (or alternative 3d concept software), Adobe Suite and Excel
- Strong conceptualizing skills & good working knowledge of visualizing techniques
- Organized and thorough multitasker with a strong eye for detail; able to priorities and organize team schedule and tasks
- Excellent communicator, with good people skills and a strong level of empathy, experienced in communicating with clients.
- Effective collaborator and team player, able to consider and respond to the needs of each member of the team.
- Able to problem solve and respond to a constantly changing situation.
- Flexible and fluid attitude, thriving in a dynamic work environment with a willingness and ability to work outside office hours when needed.
- Full understanding of codes of building design and UAE approvals requirements.
- Knowledge of design trends and the market in UAE
Education & Experience:
- Architecture degree is a minimum requirement.
- 8+ years’ experience working on both architectural and interiors projects for commercial, retail, hospitality or F/B Preferably in UAE.
- Design & Build experience preferred.
- DfMA experience an advantage!
