Job description

A Leading Talent Acquisition Company in Saudi Arabia, a prominent talent acquisition consultancy, is seeking a Field Technician specializing in Terrestrial Ecology for a key project in Saudi Arabia. As a Field Technician, you will support environmental studies and assessments related to terrestrial ecosystems. This role involves field data collection, habitat assessments, and collaboration with ecologists and environmental scientists.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Accurately identify birds and mammals to species level, especially those in southern Saudi Arabia.
  2. Design, plan, and implement terrestrial field surveys, including census techniques like camera trapping and bird counts (point counts and line transects). Some experience in small mammal trapping is required.
  3. Set up remote camera traps, download data, and securely store it.
  4. Write scientific reports with clear, professional English communication.
  5. Manage and analyze data effectively, presenting findings clearly.
  6. Manage field staff, ensuring coordination during surveys.
  7. Use GIS for spatial analysis and mapping.
  8. Maintain excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  9. Be physically fit and capable of conducting fieldwork in mountainous environments.
  10. Be willing and available to stay in Abha for the entire contract duration.
  11. Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Requirements:
  1. BSc in Biology, Conservation Science, Ecology, Environmental Management, or related fields.
  2. Valid KSA driving license.
  3. Minimum five years of experience in ecology or nature conservation, with a solid understanding of ecological principles.
  4. Experience with field ecology methodologies: walking transects, point counts, camera trapping, and small mammal trapping.
  5. Proficiency in identifying Arabian fauna, especially regional birds and mammals.
  6. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Familiarity with data analysis software and GIS is advantageous.
