Virtucruit is partnering with a leading mining company in Saudi Arabia to appoint an Exploration Drill Rig Welder - Saudi National within the Exploration Department.
This is a development position intended for a Saudi national who wants to build practical welding, fabrication and repair skills and a long-term career supporting exploration drilling equipment. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of experienced maintenance personnel while developing competence in welding, cutting, fabrication and structural repairs.
The role provides hands-on exposure to surface and underground exploration drill rigs, workshop fabrication and field repairs, with structured coaching and progressive responsibility as technical competency develops.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Ensures the highest level of safety, health and environmental work standards are maintained.
- Assist with welding, fabrication and repair work on Surface and Underground exploration drill rigs, support equipment and workshop structures.
- Carry out basic SMAW/arc, MIG and other approved welding activities under supervision and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Assist with repair of cracked or damaged brackets, guards, frames, platforms, supports, trays and other fabricated components on drilling equipment.
- Measure, mark, cut, grind, fit and prepare steel components and materials for welding and fabrication.
- Inspect weld areas and fabricated components for visible defects, cracks, wear or damage and report findings to the supervisor.
- Use welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, hand tools and power tools safely and correctly.
- Assist with field breakdown repairs and fabrication work while following isolation, hot-work permit and fire-prevention requirements.
- Learn to read and interpret basic fabrication drawings, measurements, sketches and equipment repair instructions.
- Support preventive maintenance by inspecting welded structures, mounting points, guards and fabricated components for fatigue or damage.
- Maintain welding machines, leads, tools and work areas in safe and serviceable condition.
- Maintain good housekeeping and ensure gas cylinders, electrodes, consumables and welding equipment are stored and handled correctly.
- Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, technical training, coaching and competency assessments, and demonstrate continuous improvement in welding quality and productivity.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Saudi National.
- Technical Diploma or vocational qualification in Welding, Fabrication, Mechanical Trades or a related technical field is preferred.
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; 0-2 years of welding or fabrication experience is acceptable.
- Basic practical knowledge of welding, cutting, grinding, measurement and metal fabrication.
- Ability to understand basic dimensions and drawings and willingness to develop fabrication and repair skills.
- Willingness to work in workshop, surface and underground field environments and perform field repairs when required.
- Basic English communication skills are desirable, with willingness to develop technical English.
- Welding trade certification or competency certificates are an advantage but may also be developed through company training.
