Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Saudi Arabia is searching for an experienced technician to execute the installation and commissioning of Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers. Candidates should have a strong background in electrical installations, civil works, and experience with epoxy coatings. The role requires compliance with safety standards and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. This position involves outdoor work and may include irregular hours.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in electrical installation, preferably in EV charger.
  • Knowledge of Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) installation standards is an advantage.
  • Experience with epoxy or polyurethane floor coating is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Execute installation of AC/DC EV chargers including mounting, cabling, and connection works.
  • Perform excavation, compaction, formwork, and finishing for civil foundations.

Job description
Job Purpose

To execute the installation, testing, and commissioning of Electric Vehicle (EV) chargers, ensuring full compliance with technical, safety, and quality standards. The supervisor will be responsible for carrying out electrical installations, minor civil works, and epoxy floor painting associated with EV charging stations to ensure a professional and durable finish.

Electrical Installation Works
  • Execute installation of AC/DC EV chargers including mounting, cabling, and connection works.
  • Install circuit breakers, isolators, conduits, trunking, cable trays, and junction boxes as per approved drawings.
  • Pull, terminate, and test LV power and control cables (up to 1000V).
  • Carry out proper earthing and bonding for EV chargers and associated panels.
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations and IEC/IEC 61851 standards.
  • Perform insulation resistance, continuity, and voltage drop tests to verify circuit integrity.
  • Support commissioning teams in functional and safety testing of chargers.
Civil Works
  • Prepare charger foundation bases, reinforced concrete (RCC) pedestals, and cable trenches as per design drawings.
  • Perform excavation, compaction, formwork, and finishing for civil foundations.
  • Carry out core cutting, conduit embedding, and trench reinstatement works with proper compaction and finishing.
  • Ensure correct alignment, leveling, and plinth height of EV chargers prior to installation.
  • Perform grouting and foundation bolt installation for secure mounting of charging units.
  • Coordinate with surveyors and subcontractors for site readiness and quality inspection.
Epoxy Floor Painting Works
  • Prepare surfaces through mechanical grinding, cleaning, and moisture testing prior to coating.
  • Mix and apply industrial-grade epoxy floor coatings to the required thickness and finish.
  • Ensure anti-slip and chemical-resistant finish in charging areas, in compliance with site HSE and quality requirements.
  • Mark parking bays, safety zones, and directional arrows using stencils and traffic-grade paint.
  • Inspect and repair cracks or uneven surfaces prior to epoxy application.
Safety and Compliance
  • Strictly adhere to NEC/IEC electrical codes and local SEC/SAFANIYA safety regulations.
  • Ensure proper Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) and permit-to-work procedures during installation.
  • Use PPE at all times and maintain safe work practices in electrical and civil environments.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments, and HSE audits.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Record installation parameters, test results, and as-built details accurately.
  • Submit daily progress reports and work completion certificates to the site supervisor.
  • Assist in preparing as-built drawings and red-line markups.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, materials, and consumables.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma / ITI / Technical Certificate in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in electrical installation (preferably in EV charger, power distribution, or industrial systems).
  • Basic knowledge of civil foundation and surface finishing work.
  • Experience with epoxy or polyurethane floor coating is mandatory.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, cable schedules, and single-line diagrams (SLDs).
  • Familiar with testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and earth resistance testers.
  • Knowledge of Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) installation standards is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong hands-on technical and troubleshooting ability.
  • Understanding of electrical protection systems (MCB, MCCB, RCCB, contactors, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of civil concrete works and finishing.
  • Skill in surface preparation and epoxy coating techniques.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Good communication skills and understanding of English (Arabic is a plus).
  • Driving and having KSA license.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
  • Must be able to work at outdoor sites in varying weather conditions.
  • Requires frequent bending, lifting (up to 25 kg), and use of power tools.
  • Flexibility to work night shifts, weekends, or extended hours during critical installations.
  • Must comply with site safety and access control procedures.
