Job Description
Parsons seeks a knowledgeable and proactive Environmental Coordinator (Aviation) to support environmental compliance, monitoring, and sustainability initiatives across a major airfield infrastructure development project. This role ensures that all construction activities comply with environmental legislation, project requirements, and aviation authority standards, while promoting sustainable construction practices. The ideal candidate will have 8 years of experience in environmental management within large‑scale infrastructure, aviation, or industrial projects.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Implement the project Environmental Management Plan (EMP) in alignment with regulatory, client, and aviation authority requirements.
- Conduct routine environmental inspections and audits covering noise, air quality, water management, waste, and ecosystem protection.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits, conditions of approval, and sustainability guidelines.
- Monitor environmental KPIs and ensure corrective actions are taken where non‑conformances arise.
- Support construction teams in mitigating environmental impacts related to earthworks, utilities, airside operations, and heavy plant movement.
- Review and validate environmental method statements, risk assessments, and temporary works plans.
- Coordinate spill response, erosion and sediment control, dust suppression strategies, and waste segregation systems.
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, environmental agencies, and airport authorities on all environmental matters.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly environmental reports, incident logs, and compliance dashboards.
- Support environmental training and awareness campaigns across construction teams and subcontractors.
- Participate in environmental meetings, audits, and regulatory inspections.
- Promote sustainable construction practices, material reuse, waste reduction, and resource efficiency.
- Support implementation of project sustainability frameworks (LEED, Envision, or similar, if applicable).
- Facilitate integration of environmental requirements into design, construction, and site logistics plans.
- Assist in managing environmental incidents, spills, and contamination events.
- Ensure corrective action plans, root‑cause analyses, and close‑out documentation are completed promptly.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of environmental management or coordination experience in large‑scale infrastructure, aviation, or construction projects.
- Strong experience conducting site inspections, environmental audits, and regulatory compliance assessments.
- Solid knowledge of environmental regulations, impact mitigation, and construction environmental standards.
- Strong understanding of air quality control, waste management, water control measures, and ecological protection.
- Proficient in MS Office, environmental monitoring tools, and reporting platforms.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and site engagement skills.
- Experience working in airports, airfields, or aviation‑regulated environments.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Familiarity with LEED, Envision, or other sustainability frameworks.
- Experience using digital environmental monitoring platforms.
- Fluency in Arabic is a plus.
