We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Control Engineer to join our dynamic team in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and controlling project costs, ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on schedule. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. As a Cost Control Engineer, you will play a critical role in the financial planning and analysis of projects, collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate budgeting and forecasting. You will be tasked with monitoring project expenditures, preparing cost reports, and identifying areas for cost optimization.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed project cost estimates and budgets, ensuring alignment with project goals and specifications.
- Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, providing timely updates and reports to project managers and stakeholders.
- Analyze variances between actual and budgeted costs, investigating discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
- Prepare and present detailed cost reports, forecasts, and financial analyses to project management and senior leadership.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to evaluate vendor quotations and ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
- Implement and maintain cost control systems and processes to enhance project financial performance.
- Assist in the preparation of change orders and claims, ensuring accurate documentation of cost impacts.
- Conduct regular audits of project costs to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to project teams on cost management best practices and tools.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic planning discussions related to cost management.
Preferred Candidate
- Proven experience as a Cost Control Engineer or similar role in the construction or engineering industry.
- Strong knowledge of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial analysis principles.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to non‑financial stakeholders.
- Proficiency in cost management software and tools, as well as Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment while demonstrating initiative and independence.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or similar are a plus.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
