Role Summary

At AstraZeneca we believe in the potential of our people and that you’ll develop beyond what you thought possible. We make the most of your skills and passion by actively supporting you to see what you can achieve no matter where you start with us.

AstraZeneca is a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of prescription medicines for some of the world's most serious diseases. AstraZeneca is one of only a handful of pure-play biopharmaceutical companies to span the entire value chain of a medicine from discovery, early- and late-stage development to manufacturing and distribution, and the global commercialisation of primary care and specialty care medicines that transform lives. Our primary focus is on key areas of healthcare: Oncology; Cardiovascular and Renal Metabolic disease (CVRM) and Respiratory + Immunology – and Rare Disease.

The Corporate Affairs Manager will lead AstraZeneca Saudi Arabia’s external engagement, reputation management, policy shaping, and communication efforts, aligning with the company’s strategy and values. The role requires proactive engagement with governmental bodies, regulatory agencies, healthcare associations, industry partners, media, and other key stakeholders to advance AstraZeneca’s interests and support access to innovative medicines.

What You’ll Do

  • Establish and nurture relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, healthcare stakeholders, and policy makers.
  • Monitor and shape local healthcare policy and regulatory developments, providing timely analysis and advice to senior management.
  • Serve as the company’s primary spokesperson for media relations; manage proactive and reactive media inquiries and issues management.
  • Drive AstraZeneca’s sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda within Saudi Arabia.
  • Lead crisis and issues management, ensuring effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee all local external communications, including corporate announcements, media releases, and digital content, ensuring compliance with global brand guidelines.
  • Support local Leadership Team with strategic counsel on reputation, policy, stakeholder management, and internal communications.
  • Strengthen AstraZeneca’s visibility and reputation through engagement with business and industry associations (e.g., SFDA, healthcare chambers, industry groups).
  • Advise on and coordinate public affairs and advocacy campaigns to shape a policy environment conducive to innovation and patient access.
  • Lead or participate in employee engagement initiatives and drive consistent internal communication.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical, Market Access, Compliance, Regulatory, and other teams to align external messaging.
  • Ensure all activities comply with AstraZeneca’s Code of Ethics, local regulation, and industry codes.

Essential For The Role

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Policy, Communication, Political Science, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in corporate affairs, governmental affairs, communications, or public policy—preferably in the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector.

  • Strong network with local policy makers, regulatory agencies, and healthcare stakeholders is a plus.
  • Proven experience in handling media, advocacy efforts, crisis communications, and stakeholder engagement.
