About the Hospital

Opened originally in 1983, this 1600-bed flagship National Guard Hospital has continued to expand and develop its services and now offers a high quality of service in all medical and surgical specialities including a highly equipped Cardiac Centre, highly specialised transplant, and hepatobiliary services.

The Emergency Care Centre at this hospital continues to be the best Trauma Care Centre in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is ranked as the 4th Emergency Care Centre outside the United States of America, to provide (PHTLS) Pre‑Hospital Trauma and Life Support programme.

The complex also houses a specialised children’s hospital, a 600‑bed hospital which commenced operations with the opening of the Paediatric Emergency Department and the transfer of 90 patients inclusive of 11 Intensive care critical patients on 19th and 20th April 2015.

Qualifications

If you wish to apply for this position, you will require the following to qualify as a consultant with this institution, and as per the licensing authorities:

  • 2 years Consultant experience in a Western hospital
  • 2 years post‑specialist qualification experience from the following countries:
    • UK – CCT
    • USA – American Board
    • Canada – Canadian Fellowship
    • Ireland – CSD/CSCST
    • Australia & New Zealand – Fellowship
    • France – DES/DESC
    • Other European countries according to the qualification equivalence tables of the SCFHS.
Benefits

Salary: To be advised

Bonus: ½ Months’ salary – End of contract

Contract duration: 1- or 2‑years renewable

Contract status: Family – Spouse and 3 children

Accommodation: Free of charge – fully furnished

Baggage allowance: 200 SAR per person

Vacation: 51 days total – including local holidays

Study leave: 7 paid days CME leave with travel allowance

Education allowance: Provided for up the 3 children

Medical cover: Provided for self and family

Working hours: 42.5 hours/5‑day week

On call: As required within specialty

Start date: By agreement

  • Free on‑site housing and utilities – swimming pools, gym, shops, restaurants, children’s play areas.
  • Free recreational opportunities for entire family.
  • Education allowance for up to 3 school‑age children from year 1 to year 9 of SR 23,000 per child per year in or outside of Saudi Arabia.
  • Those in years 10, 11, 12 receive an additional SR 5,000 per year.
