Job summary

A professional organization in procurement and supply chain is seeking a Commercial Manager to provide commercial management support and drive business growth. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience, with strong skills in negotiation, financial management, and a background in the construction industry. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and a professional qualification in FIDIC Certification or a chartered membership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years working experience.
  • 5 years in a relevant supervisory position.
  • 2 years GCC experience is a plus.

Job Summary

The Commercial Manager provides commercial management support to the project commercial team and through this, ensures commercial interests are optimized for the business. Through the implementation and utilization of Company processes and procedures, the role provides up-stream comments on improvement opportunities. The role communicates and negotiates with clients or other business associates as the opportunity presents itself to develop exploitable opportunities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Create and implement strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and administration of contracts to ensure favorable terms and compliance.
  • Manage budgets, conduct financial analysis, and monitor financial performance to ensure cost control and profitability.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer needs.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks associated with contracts and business operations.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of commercial strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to foster long-term partnerships.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bids and proposals to secure new business opportunities.
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of commercial professionals, promoting a high-performance culture and continuous professional development.
  • Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities, and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company and IMS policies.
Job Knowledge & Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of construction contractual matters as well in quantity surveying methods, techniques and tools for contracting.
  • Possess an excellent understanding of commercial and financial matters.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in negotiating, reviewing documents and administrative accountability.
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of MS windows applications (Projects, word, excel, outlook, Power Point) and other tools related to project activities. Knowledge of Commercial and Cost management packages such as CCS (Candy) will be a distinct advantage.
  • ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
Job Experience
  • Minimum 8 years working experience, 5 years in a relevant supervisory position, 2 years GCC experience is a plus.
