Join us in connecting people and improving lives! In this Bid Manager position, responsibilities include coordinating stakeholders, managing bid processes, developing commercial narratives, and ensuring timely RFQ submissions.
Responsibilities
- The country Bid Manager is overall responsible to coordinate all stakeholders involved in the RFQ response and to submit in a timely manner the final and combined DGF answer to a given RFQ.
- Based on the country-led concept, the country Bid Manager assumes the lead and involves all necessary stakeholders, starting with Lead Country ACC/OCC, Finance, IT, Legal, etc.
- The drive, coordination, and execution of pre-bid and post-bid phases are critical for the success of the bid pricing response portion; a country Bid Manager is the project manager of these phases and the interface between Commercial Owner and DGF resources.
- The Bid Manager will support the Commercial Owner to liaise with many parties within DGF response teams, to prepare and organize commercial narratives, executive summaries and/or commercial value propositions, DGF T&Cs, etc.
- The Bid Manager is ultimately responsible for the completeness, look, feel, and timeliness of the RFQ submittal to the commercial owner.
- Provide effective reporting for the country bids and give sales and country management a complete 360-degree view on topics related to bid management.
- Responsible for the deployment of the Global Bid tool in the country and ensuring bid compliance and that the tool is maintained and updated for all bids.
- Establish a clear road map and implement strategies that have short to long-term impact on business results in alignment with regional and functional objectives.
- Lead development and implementation of tender management strategy for the country including planning, target customers, tools.
- Support sales management in proactively identifying opportunities within the country pipeline to improve bid process.
- Proactive pre-RFQ engagement with Sales and Product to increase conversion ratios on RFQ success.
- Complete pre-bid activities with sales including customer reporting, customer development plan and win plan reviews.
- Use creative thinking to bring new ideas and increase opportunity win rate through strategic value propositions.
- Establish a core stakeholder group for each bid and manage all communication throughout the bid process.
- Host pre-bid, kickoff, wrap-up calls and regular follow-up meetings to coordinate best results for customer solutions.
- Work closely with all products, finance, IT, legal, risk management and sales to manage approvals for bids.
- Run full project management throughout the bid process to ensure all pieces (pricing from product and solutions) are complete and delivered on time.
- Complete post-bid activities including debrief (post-bid reviews) and follow up on actions established.
- Provide training to sales and product teams on bid management engagement process and tools.
- Provide reporting to sales management on hit rates for locally owned bids, trends seen and opportunities for development/improvement.
- Provide reporting to sales management on the country bids — volume net effect (imports and exports).
- Support and prepare new business proposals including RFIs.
- Ensure in-depth visibility to all key stakeholders on all upcoming RFQs, both within the commercial and product stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 3-5 years of freight forwarding experience recommended.
- Minimum of 2 years freight forwarding/RFQ pricing/bid management experience.
- Strong knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong decision making and leadership skills.
- Strong communicative, analytical, and administrative skills.
