Job Description
  • Design and Engineering: designing and engineering the baggage handling system for the project. This includes developing detailed plans, specifications, and technical drawings for the system.
  • Budgeting and Cost Estimation: work with the project team to develop and manage the budget for the baggage handling system.
  • This includes estimating costs for materials, equipment, and labour, and tracking expenses throughout the project.
  • Procurement and Vendor Management: manage the procurement of all equipment and materials needed for the baggage handling system.
  • This includes identifying vendors, negotiating contracts, and overseeing the delivery and installation of equipment.
  • Project Coordination and Communication: work closely with the project team to ensure that the baggage handling system is integrated with other systems in the terminal, such as security and passenger flow. The engineer will also be responsible for communicating project updates and issues to stakeholders, such as airport management and regulatory agencies.
  • Testing and Commissioning: oversee the testing and commissioning of the baggage handling system to ensure that it meets all design specifications and functional requirements. This includes conducting system tests, resolving any issues that arise, and obtaining necessary approvals from regulatory agencies.
  • Maintenance and Support: provide ongoing maintenance and support for the baggage handling system after the project is completed. This includes developing maintenance plans, training maintenance staff, and troubleshooting issues that arise.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering
  • 12 years of total expereince
  • Strong knowledge of Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) design, installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with international airport standards and regulations (e.g., IATA, ICAO, TSA, EN 528, NFPA 130).
  • Certification in PLC/SCADA systems, automation, or control systems is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in BHS simulation tools, AutoCAD, and related software
  • Proven experience in supervision, integration, and commissioning of large-scale Baggage Handling Systems.
  • Expertise in conveyor systems, automated sorting, scanning, tracking, and security screening equipment.
  • Strong understanding of BHS performance requirements, operational reliability, and safety protocols.
