Job description
Job Purpose

Acts as a point of contact for general security issues, inquiries, systems, and investigations; ensures that the security performance standards adopted and practiced by Air Arabia employees, Contractors, Vendors, and Customer Airlines meet the specifications stipulated in the “Security Manual” and are in line with GACA/CAA and other related regulatory bodies’ regulations.

Key Result Responsibilities
  • Assists in developing and implementing Air Arabia’s security P&P and related manuals in accordance with GACA/CAA rules and regulation and company’s overall P&Ps and security objectives.
  • Assists in reviewing the Company’s assets, facilities, equipment and activities to identify security needs and threats in accordance with International Government requirements.
  • Contributes to developing and updating the “Security Manuals to include any new security regulations, directives and Bulletins and prepares for dissemination accordingly.
  • Implements and monitors the operations security standards and procedures in accordance with national/international aviation security legislations ensuring maximum security measures are taken to safeguard passengers, crew, staff and property; maintains written logs & submit reports when needed.
  • Monitors the “Aircraft Operator Security Program” for Air Arabia ensuring its compliance with the “National Aviation Security Program – Annex 17” and the other aviation authorities (CAA) in the respective areas of operation.
  • Assists in training employees on the security measures and adopted security practices; performs as a go team member during times of increased risk and/or for specific flights and routes as needed whilst maintaining familiarity with applicable aviation security-related legislations and regulations in all the geographic areas operated by Air Arabia.
Key Result Responsibilities - Continued
  • Contributes to developing necessary security measures to eliminate risk and enhance security; implements approved measures and communicates accordingly.
  • Maintains effective relationships with Stakeholders, relevant authorities, vendors, and customer airlines to ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements and keeps abreast with industry’s development of security systems.
  • Investigates criminal activities and malpractice whilst maintaining records of the same and of any un-authorized weapons or suspect explosive devices detected on Air Arabia aircraft or on property used by Air Arabia; liaises with investigative authorities, such as the Airport Authority and Police.
  • Conducts regular routine internal/external security audits and spot checks; constantly monitors the loading/offloading of cargo and passenger baggage to promote security concept and create awareness and alertness among the loading handlers.
  • Performs routine ramp, counter, and gate checks and carries out visual searches on aircrafts to protect Air Arabia property and facilities; arranges necessary formalities to facilitate for deportees and disruptive passengers escorts when required; conducts inspections outstations whenever requested.
  • Identifies irregularities in performance and reports findings of audits to the “Security Manager”, recommends and follows up on the implementation of corrective measures to ensure the audit findings are closed within the agreed time frame and recorded accordingly.
  • Monitors security systems in use by Air Arabia ensuring the cooperation of line managers; ensures that CCTV, access control and other security related equipment are maintained and functional.
Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)
  • Bachelor degree in Management/Aviation or equivalent from a recognized university, diploma or certificate in a related field combined with needed experience and exposure is acceptable.
  • Basic Airport, security procedures and regulations is a must for this role.
  • Must have completed investigations/Interview techniques courses including techniques in detection of forged travel documents and passengers profiling.
  • Air Restraint or any equivalent training such as Hand-cuff training is an advantage.
  • IATA principles & standards relating to security is an advantage.
  • Skilled report writing is required to ensure that complex reports are properly and clearly described.
  • Compliance, Audit and Quality Assurance certificates and trainings are an added value for this role.
  • Up to date with current Security Technology, proficient in Microsoft Office: Advanced Excel & Power Point.
  • Fluent in English & Arabic Languages (Non-Arabic speakers accepted based on Line Manager’s approval).
Work Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in the Aviation/Airlines industry, a minimum of 2 years of which at least in a similar capacity in the Aviation Security department, is required for this role.
  • A reasonable knowledge of the Government Immigration Acts, Police & Criminal Evidence (Aviation authorities) Acts.
  • Has decent knowledge and exposure on the Civil Aviation Authorities, particularly GACA; familiar with all rules and regulations of GACA pertaining to the Aviation Security , policies, procedures, manuals, etc.
  • Experienced in implementing and carrying out investigation procedures and audit checks.
  • A very good knowledge and exposure on airline and Flight Operations, SGHA contracting formalities and standard regulations; good understanding of Flight crew thought process.
  • A balanced personality, composed, capable of dealing with threats and emergency cases with focus, analytical thinking, efficiency and commitment to successful safe results.
  • Knowledge and working exposure to Quality Assurance /Safety/External Audit practices affecting security.
  • Experienced in monitoring performance against security policies, procedures and operating manuals as per business needs and in line with adopted regulations and approved standards.
  • High accuracy and attention to details.
  • Cost-oriented, possesses effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
