A leading engineering firm in Saudi Arabia is seeking a skilled professional in Substation Automation to lead technical activities, prepare design documents, and ensure project accuracy through hands-on experience with SCADA and control systems. The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 3-4 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with IEC standards and communication protocols, as well as strong communication skills, will be crucial for success in this role.
Review input data received from Sales for a project and highlight conflicts, if any.
Prepare base design and detailed design documents for Substation Automation System (SAS)
Coordination with various stakeholders (internal & external) during the document’s submission and design flow process till FAT & SAT
Follow up with customers / End-user in getting approval of documents.
Procurement of SAS components, negotiations with suppliers and coordinate with customers / End-users for timely updates.
Configuration of SCADA, HMI software (Zenon from Copa-Data) and other major SAS components like Ethernet switches, Station Computers, Gateways, Firewalls, NTP Serves., etc.
Thorough knowledge of SAS protocols like IEC 61850 MMS/GOOSE, IEC 60870-5-101/104, DNP3, etc.
Thorough knowledge and hands on experience on redundancy protocols like RSTP, PRP, HSR, time protocols like SNTP, PTP, etc.
Lead the technical activities related to Substation Automation System (including Zenon SCADA / BCU / Cyber Security / Gateways, IEDs & other SAS components)
Conduct FAT & SAT with customer / End-user including complete system testing until handover.
Ensure proper handover of all factories as-built drawings / documents and SCADA HMI software database backup related to a project.
Understanding / knowledge of OT cybersecurity related to Automation systems including AD, WSUS, Anti-virus, NMS, Backup, etc.
Thorough knowledge of National Grid-Substation Automation System standards such as all TES-P-107.01, TES-P-104.04, TES-P-107.05, TES-P-107.06, TCS-P-107.03, 31-TMSS-01, 01-TMSS-01, etc.
Preparation of SAS prequalification documents and addressing National Grid comments through the SAS PQ Process.
Designing the prototype for National Grid Substation Automation System.
Technical activities related to Substation Automation System (including Zenon SCADA/BCU/Cyber Security / Gateways / IEDs & other SAS components).
SAS Engineering & Design, Procurement, Protection/Control IEDs & Network device configuration, Integration with IEDs on IEC 61850 MMS / GOOSE, SCADA HMI, System Testing & Commissioning including FAT/iFAT & SAT, Troubleshooting, Coordinate of activities and related documentation, Control Center Integration from Substation over IEC 60870-5-101 / 104, DNP3, etc.
National grid approval for SAS. Thorough knowledge in NG-SAS standards as ll TES-P-107.01, TEP-P-107.04, TES-P-107.05, TEP-P-107.06, TCD-P-107.03, 31-TMSS-01, 01-TMSS-01, etc.
Direct work experience of minimum 3-4 years in the field related to:
Technical knowledge related to Power System Protection, Automation & Controls, including various communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP, IEC 61850, IEC 60870-5-101/104, etc application software of HMI/SCADA solutions etc, proficient in major SAS device configurations. Conversant with all Microsoft tools like work, excel, project, etc. Good presentation and communication skills, team players with capability to handle situations.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical / Electronics / Communication / Computer Engineering.
