Assistant Finance Controller

Job Title

Assistant Finance Controller

Job Objective

To support the Finance Controller in managing and overseeing the daily operations of the Finance Department, ensuring, compliance, and efficiency in all financial reporting and control processes. The role involves managing financial reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting, audits, and team supervision to maintain financial integrity and support business decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Manage month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
  • Assist in preparing and submitting half‑yearly and annual statutory reports in line with Group and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly management accounts, P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts within strict deadlines.
  • Prepare and submit monthly Flash reports, divisional packs, and semi‑annual Group packs.
  • Support strategic planning, budgeting, and creation of business models for expansion or new projects.
  • Audit & Compliance: Assist in coordinating and preparing for Group and statutory external audits.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of statutory requirements including VAT, ICV, ESR, FATCA, and Corporate Tax.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, lease accounting reports, and CAPEX monitoring.
  • Maintain efficient internal controls and ensure adherence to accounting policies, IFRS standards, and company compliance guidelines.
  • Operational Finance Management: Authorise payments in conjunction with the Finance Controller/Director.
  • Oversee tasks including standard cost updates, forecast revisions, bank beneficiary checks, and bad debt provisions.
  • Manage debtor and creditor reconciliations, master data management, and call‑back confirmations.
  • Supervise annual physical verifications including fixed assets and stock counts.
  • Team Leadership & Coordination: Supervise the daily work of the Finance team including Accountants, Finance Assistants, and Master Data Specialists.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to ensure effective performance and adherence to financial standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments for accurate reporting and efficient financial operations.
  • Process Improvement & Strategic Support: Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and cost optimisation.
  • Support management in financial planning, scenario modelling, and risk assessment.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to enhance decision‑making and business performance.
  • Compliance & Integrity: Promote the organisation's core values of honesty, integrity, and compliance in all financial activities, follow the Group Product Compliance Policy and Code of Conduct while ensuring ethical and transparent operations.
  • Understand and apply the Speak Out section of the Code of Conduct, encouraging open communication and accountability.
  • Participate in relevant compliance and finance training programmes.

  • Technical & Functional Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
