Job Purpose
To oversee and manage multiple projects within a specific geographical area, ensuring successful delivery in terms of scope, timeline, budget, and quality. The Area Project Manager provides leadership, coordination, and oversight across project teams while maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the planning, scheduling, and implementation of multiple projects across the assigned area.
- Define project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Ensure projects are executed according to approved plans and standards.
- Team Leadership & Coordination
- Supervise project managers, site engineers, and on-ground teams.
- Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments (operations, procurement, finance, and technical teams).
- Budget & Cost Management
- Prepare and monitor project budgets.
- Track expenditures and ensure alignment with financial targets.
- Approve procurement requests and manage vendor contracts.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all project activities comply with company standards, safety regulations, and relevant laws.
- Conduct regular site visits and quality audits.
- Manage risk assessments and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients within the area.
- Maintain strong communication to ensure client satisfaction and project alignment.
- Prepare progress reports and present status updates to management and stakeholders.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track KPIs such as progress, cost variance, schedule adherence, and resource utilization.
- Provide weekly and monthly project dashboards and status reports.
- Escalate issues that may impact project delivery.
- Problem Resolution & Continuous Improvement
- Identify risks and challenges early and implement mitigation plans.
- Promote best practices and process improvements across all projects.
- Ensure lessons learned are captured and applied.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- 6–10 years of experience in project management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or area-based role.
- Professional certifications (PMP, PRINCE2) are a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to travel frequently across the assigned region.
