Job Description

Summary Introduction:
The Application Architect will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and optimizing the organization's application architecture to meet both current and future business needs. This role involves assessing existing application frameworks, developing target architecture based on industry best practices, and driving the evolution of the application landscape through strategic transformation. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure that application solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with overall business goals. Additionally, you will evaluate and recommend IT solutions, support governance processes, and oversee the integration of new technologies within the enterprise ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessing Current Application Architecture: Analyze the existing application architecture to identify opportunities for improvement, optimization, and alignment with business objectives. Ensure that current applications support scalability, performance, and security requirements.
  • Designing Target Application Architecture: Develop and design the target application architecture, creating a blueprint that aligns with business needs and adheres to industry standards and best practices. This includes defining system components, their interactions, and technology stack for current and future applications.
  • Gap Analysis & Transformation Roadmap: Perform detailed gap analysis between the current and target application architectures. Develop a practical and phased IT transformation roadmap, outlining clear steps to close the identified gaps and ensuring the architecture evolves effectively over time.
  • Developing RFPs: Lead the development of comprehensive and clear Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for application-related solutions, ensuring that they capture all technical and business requirements while maintaining alignment with the target architecture.
  • Evaluating and Selecting IT Vendors & Solutions: Analyze, evaluate, and select IT vendors and solutions that best fit the organization’s requirements and architecture strategy. Provide recommendations based on factors such as technology compatibility, scalability, vendor reputation, and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Supporting Architecture Governance: Contribute to and support architecture governance functions to ensure that all application designs and solutions align with the organization’s architectural principles, security standards, and long‑term strategy. Ensure compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
  • Change Request Assessment: Review and assess incoming change requests, providing guidance on their impact on the existing application architecture. Ensure changes are in line with the target architecture and advise stakeholders on feasibility and potential risks.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Support: Collaborate with various business and IT stakeholders to ensure application designs meet the needs of the organization. Provide technical guidance, support, and advice to ensure smooth integration of new technologies and applications within the enterprise ecosystem.
  • Continuous Improvement & Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in application architecture. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and optimization, advocating for innovative solutions that enhance application performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain clear documentation of application architecture designs, decisions, and guidelines. Share knowledge and best practices with the development team, ensuring they understand the architectural vision and follow established principles.
Qualifications
  • Drives the creation and update of the Target Application Architecture based on priority business requirements.
  • TOGAF, SOA.
  • Ensures application architecture alignment with the organization objectives, collaborates with other domain architects to ensure alignment.
  • Ensures initiatives and projects conform to Application Architecture direction, best practices, beige standards.
  • Establishes and implements architectural conformance.
  • Monitors technology advancements and adapts the implementation of the Target Application Architecture as appropriate.
  • Helps drive project teams to design, develop and deliver EA compliant initiatives and projects including alignment to the Target Integration Architecture vision, direction.
  • Measures the integration maturity model and proposes initiatives to improve the level of Organization integration maturity.
  • Ensures initiatives and projects conform to EA Integration Architecture standards through the Governance Framework.
  • Drives initiative reviews from an Enterprise Architecture perspective.
  • Identifies and manages a prioritization of integration gaps and drives recommended solutions across the EA.
  • Supports EA Governance and Change Management Processes.
  • Fluently spoken in Arabic and English.
