Job description
Job Purpose

Oversee accounting operations and financial reporting for Bahri Logistics, ensuring integrity and compliance of financial data. Manage and develop the accounting team to deliver accurate reports, enable informed decision-making, and maintain adherence to Bahri’s financial policies and governance standards.

Key Accountabilities
  1. Strategy & Planning

    Ensure effective cascading of the functional strategy into department business plans for vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing departments/units. Manage the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes, and practices, considering leading standards, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.

  2. Performance Management

    Monitor the performance of accounting operations by ensuring timely and accurate reporting, reconciliation, and closing activities. Review and validate reports to meet Bahri’s financial and audit standards.

  3. People & Leadership

    Lead and develop the accounting team through performance management, coaching, and motivation to achieve departmental goals. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.

  4. Budgeting & Financial Planning

    Lead the preparation and consolidation of annual budgets and forecasts for the logistics business. Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions to achieve financial targets.

  5. Policies & Procedures

    Ensure effective implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain compliance with statutory and company requirements. Support audit readiness and compliance with IFRS standards.

  6. Function Responsibilities
    • Oversee all accounting operations related to payables, receivables, general ledger, and reporting for Bahri Logistics.
    • Review and approve financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
    • Monitor cash flow and working capital to ensure effective liquidity management across geographies.
    • Ensure accurate reconciliation of accounts, supplier balances, and intercompany transactions.
    • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings and ensure integration of accounting data with Oracle Fusion and CargoWise systems.
    • Collaborate with Commercial and Operations teams to analyze cost drivers, assess profitability, and provide financial insights to support decision-making.
    • Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements across all relevant jurisdictions.
    • Represent Bahri Logistics in interactions with Group Finance, auditors, and external stakeholders on accounting and reporting matters.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting or equivalent.
  • Masters degree in Finance, accounting or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 8–12 years of relevant accounting and financial management experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role within logistics, shipping, or warehousing sectors.
  • Familiarity with logistics systems (e.g., CargoWise) is preferred.
  • Proven experience in Oracle Fusion ERP and financial reporting systems.
  • Certification in CPA, CMA, CA, or ACCA is preferred.
