Overview
Job Description Technical Requirement: SAESD is looking for an Arabic language teacher who teaches Arabic language on an individual or group basis from beginning to advanced levels. Teaches modern standard, colloquial and/or classical Arabic as program circumstances require. Training in the aural-oral techniques in teaching a second language preferred.
Responsibilities
- Instruct students in subject matter, prepare teaching outlines, assign lessons, assess oral presentations, and evaluate assignments.
- Administer assessment instruments to evaluate students’ progress; prepare reports of progress; discuss student behavior and academic performance with parents.
- Keep classroom records; maintain discipline in the classroom and on school grounds.
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings and professional development workshops.
- Receive general administrative supervision and evaluation from the Principal of the assigned school, and professional guidance on techniques, curriculum, materials, and developments in education from the Teaching & Learning Team.
- Adhere to established SAES Policies and Administrative Instructions.
- Provides work direction to Teacher Assistants, as required; assists school administrators in new teacher orientation; promotes high academic standards and a professional atmosphere.
Skills Requirement
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking Modern Standard Arabic and English; competent in Arabic grammar and Arabic literature.
- Ability to lead a teaching team or work in an individualized teaching structure.
- Performs daily classroom or organizational activities; defines classroom achievement goals; develops classroom management and assessment systems.
- Requests, prepares, or accesses media materials; utilizes instructional aides; develops teaching material as applicable; plans individualized course of study for students.
- May perform these activities in cooperation with other members of the teaching team and in coordination with the Teaching & Learning Team.
- Evaluates student progress regularly; prepares evaluation records; communicates student progress to parents; may recommend remedial or enrichment activities.
- Keeps current with education research through professional literature and participation in formal and informal professional meetings and workshops.
- Assists in the design and review of curriculum in coordination with educational specialists, curriculum coordinators, school administrators and peers.
Certificate & Experience Requirements
- Minimum requirement: Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Education or Arabic Language. North American Certification not required.
- Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of full-time teaching experience.
