You will join the Spanish Property, Energy and Construction Underwriting team interacting with professionals Underwriters and technical experts to grow your potential in AXA XL, gaining insights and professionalism in a vibrant organization that cares about its people and makes inclusion and wellbeing a priority.

Your mission will be to deliver a profitable Underwriting service to clients and contribute to the development of a profitable portfolio in line with the agreed Business Plan. By representing AXA XL on the market you will develop high quality levels of relationships with brokers, clients and colleagues (Claims, Operations and transversal functions).

This is a regulated role under the Central Bank of Ireland’s Fitness and Probity regime.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite Energy business within the agreed business plan and individual authority : analysing risks and negotiating premiums, terms and conditions, ensuring adequate reinsurance acquired to cover specific risks, monitoring premium income to ensure it remains within set limits.
• Support the business planning and forecasting process.
• Seek, identify and develop opportunities for profitable business with new and existing customers.
• Develop relationships with stakeholders to ensure that business needs are achieved and personally getting to know and being known by brokers, clients, risk managers and account managers.
• Collaborate with the Distribution Team by providing an effective and efficient service.
• Support the design and structure of risks and monitor financial exposure within significant limits.
• Maintain awareness of all claims advised while supporting and providing input on settlement of claims.
• Use knowledge and expertise to keep policy wordings up to date with legal requirements and market developments.
• Pass all necessary and accurate information on to Operations colleagues for them to ensure the correct release of policies and / or implementation of programs.
• Collaborate in handing over all the necessary information to the Claims colleagues to handle in accurate information for claims handling.
• Evaluate and improve systems, processes and procedures on an ongoing basis to obtain best efficiency in working methods.

You will report to Property, Energy and Construction Underwriter Manager, Iberia.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Know the insurance industry : Energy business, competitors, products, profitability concepts.
• Communicate and work in Spanish and English.
• Focus on customer, understand and anticipate needs to provide customized solutions : listen to clients to understand their needs and requirements; co-elaborate with customer to better build solution.
• Efficiently manage the interactions with other parties involved. Explore different alternatives and influence the other parties to reach an agreement with positive outcomes for all.
• Analytical skills to perform fact-based analyses on risks, simple or complex.
• Work in a team with members from different expertises, places and cultures to achieve collective goals.
