Offer Description

The Fully-Funded PhD Programme at ICIQ supports outstanding graduate students worldwide in pursuing a PhD in chemistry, culminating in a Doctoral Thesis in partnership with Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). The programme enhances professional development in academia and industry.

Objectives include:

  • Performing an individual research project under a renowned Group Leader.
  • Opportunities for short-term research stays internationally.
  • Complementary training in technical and soft skills, including seminars, instrumentation, IP management, entrepreneurship, research integrity, and more.

Applicants should have excellent academic records, a strong commitment to research, and proficiency in English. Admission is competitive.

II. Application Process

Applications are submitted online via ICIQ’s Career Portal. Each candidate may submit only one application, which must include:

  • Official transcripts of BSc and MSc studies (PDF), with certified translations if necessary
  • Contact details for two references
  • English proficiency evidence (optional but recommended)

III. Eligibility & Evaluation

Open to candidates with a Master's or equivalent in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related fields, completed by enrolment.

Evaluation based on personal statement, academic marks, and interview (for shortlisted candidates).

IV. Selection Process

Applications are reviewed for eligibility; shortlisted candidates are interviewed. Final decisions are communicated by mid-July 2025. Selected candidates must respond within five days.

ICIQ promotes gender equality and non-discrimination and offers flexible working hours.

The fellowship includes a pre-doctoral contract under Spanish law, with a salary starting at approximately €18,180/year, increasing in subsequent years, plus social security coverage. The contract is for up to 4 years, renewable based on performance.
