Our product management team comprises technologists passionate about delivering products that shape market demands and promote open source software. This role is for a product management position focused on Cloud Native. We believe open source is transforming enterprise solutions. Though around for thirty years, open source is now fundamental to the software landscape. We aim to make open source easier, reliable, and secure, starting with Ubuntu and expanding to all application classes and compute types. We select product managers for their intellect and drive to advance the open source community, aiming to improve quality, outreach, and impact. Our product managers define vision and strategy, ensuring timely delivery into new and existing markets, pushing technological boundaries.

Juju is an open source orchestration engine enabling deployment, integration, and lifecycle management of applications at any scale and infrastructure using charms.

This role oversees the commercial strategy and marketing for one of our cloud native operations products, including :

  • Juju - the orchestration engine for software deployment and management
  • Identity management - authentication, authorization, and identity governance across Ubuntu One SSO and other Canonical products
  • Observability - strategy for system health monitoring and tracing of Canonical products and charms

Location : Remote in the EMEA region, with expectations to be based there.

This role entails :

  • Leading product lifecycle, reviewing priorities and goals
  • Collaborating with engineering leads on product development
  • Working with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, marketing, sales) to align priorities and address challenges
  • Conducting market research, analyzing trends, gathering customer feedback to identify opportunities and align with Canonical's vision
  • Developing your team through coaching, mentoring, and training
  • Establishing KPIs for project reporting and communicating across Canonical
  • Driving execution excellence via continuous feedback and improvement
  • Contributing to strategies for building high-performing teams
  • Supporting sales team success by reviewing customer feedback and participating in customer meetings

What we seek in you :

  • Experienced in product management within open source and cloud native domains
  • Experience managing software operations for large distributed systems
  • Good understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, and related cloud native tech
  • Knowledge of enterprise security and compliance requirements
  • Proven leadership in technical teams and driving execution
  • Passion for writing about technology and developer marketing
  • Strong work ethic and alignment with open source values
  • Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written
  • Willing to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events

Nice-to-have skills :

  • Experience with CNCF projects, identity, or observability systems
  • Intellectual curiosity and passion for future tech
  • Strong ownership and problem-solving skills with visionary leadership
