Welcome English School is a friendly, renowned private language school situated in Lugo, northwest Spain.

Lugo is a charming, small (population 100,000) safe and very friendly city with a lot of history. Its relaxed pace and low cost of living make it a great place to live!

Key responsibilities:

  • prepare and deliver engaging yet challenging lessons.
  • teach a maximum of 23 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
  • be passionate about teaching and developing their skills.
  • build a positive rapport, both with students and other staff members.
  • participate in staff meetings and professional development training sessions.

We offer:

  • a 9 month permanent renewable contract (fijo discontinuo) from mid-September to mid-June.
  • a 32-hour contract:

23 hours teaching time

9 hours lesson planning, material preparation, meetings and training

You won’t have to do any planning or marking at home

  • “on-boarding” training one week before the course starts.
  • CPD opportunities and in-house training sessions to help develop your teaching skills.
  • support from experienced academic staff and DoS during the school year.
  • a culture of professional team work where we share ideas and experience.
  • peer and DoS observations with constructive feedback.
  • your own classroom equipped with computer, projector and internet connection.
  • an abundance of resources and an easy, transparent lesson planning database.
  • class sizes of 8-12 students.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • A recognised TEFL diploma or a teaching qualification
  • 1 year classroom teaching experience
  • Knowledge of Cambridge exams
  • A2 Spanish level
  • EU nationals or non-EU citizens with a valid Spanish work permit or TIE. UK/US citizens can only work in Spain if they are currently resident and have an TIE identification number

Desired

  • Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL qualification
  • Experience with Young Learners and Cambridge exams
  • University degree
  • B2 Spanish level

Only those applicants who meet the following minimum requirements will be considered for a position. Please note: if you are NOT an EU citizen please send evidence of permission to work in Spain.

Salary and Benefits

A salary of 1400 euros net

Plus:

  • 5 weeks paid holidays : 1 week at Christmas, 1 week at Easter and 3 weeks at the end of contract. In addition, all national, provincial and regional public holidays are paid
  • As a worker under the Spanish Social Security system, full medical cover is provided by the government
  • Help finding accommodation and completing paperwork
