Offer Description

The researcher will join the project “EEG correlates of unusual bodily sensations and out-of-body experiences across the wake-sleep cycle” at the Center for Brain and Cognition, Pompeu Fabra University. The project is led by Gustavo Deco, director of the Computational Neuroscience lab. The aim of the project is to quantify the degree of irreversibility in high-density EEG brain signals associated with unusual bodily sensations, including out-of-body experiences, by comparing them to periods of eyes-closed wakefulness and the baseline brain states in which these sensations occur (e.g., meditation or sleep). The project is funded by the BIAL FOUNDATION 2024 - 81 / 24.

Tasks to be performed :

  • Literature Review.
  • Data Analysis.
  • Figure Preparation.

Dedication and working hours : Full time (35h / week).

Planned remuneration : approx. 39.749,56 € gross per year

Financing fund : Project PRINT00325 - FUNDACIÓ BIAL 2024 - 81 / 24 DECO, “EEG correlates of unusual bodily sensations and out-of-body experiences across the wake-sleep cycle”, financed by BIAL FOUNDATION, project that ends on 29 / 05 / 2026.

The expected start date is May 5th, 2025. The job is in Barcelona.

Eligibility criteria

Selection criteria : The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and / or interview. Valuation will be as follows :

  1. Academic Training (0-20 points) :
  • Undergraduate degree in Biological sciences or similar.
  • Master in Neuroscience or similar.
  • Other professional training and experience, adequacy to the proposed profile (0-60 points) :
    • Experience in a Cognitive Neuroscience Lab.
    • Experience in whole-brain modeling.
  • Other merits (0-20 points) :
    • Good knowledge of MATLAB.
    • High level of English.

    The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job.
