About The Job

In this role, you will work in an agile team and contribute to the engineering of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform and its supporting components in the core of Kubernetes. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor in implementing customer requirements and ensuring the evolving needs of Red Hat OpenShift’s rapidly growing customer base are met. You’ll need to work with various engineering teams as well as product management and other key stakeholders across the product to identify and prioritize features for existing and upcoming releases. You will work proactively with the open source Kubernetes community and lead the implementation of important improvements from the project into our software product.

Responsibilities

  • Develop architectural and design principles to enhance performance, capacity, and scalability.
  • Serve as an architect or technical lead, handling functionality, performance, resilience, reuse, security, and scalability aspects.
  • Communicate architectural decisions effectively to stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Define high-level software architecture, main components, and their interactions.
  • Develop features and fix bugs in Kubernetes and OpenShift within an agile environment.
  • Ensure product quality through peer reviews, continuous integration, and security responses.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prioritize features and resolve critical issues.
  • Proactively implement important community-driven improvements from Kubernetes into our product.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or higher in computer science or related field.
  • Architectural expertise and experience in system design.
  • 8+ years of experience coding in Golang.
  • Experience with containers and Kubernetes.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with customers and open source community involvement.
  • Familiarity with Red Hat technologies and open source development models.
  • Participation in open source projects or leadership roles.
  • Experience with enterprise application development, observability tools, and deploying on OpenShift.
