Offer Description

We are looking for a research assistant for the project Nuclis Green ACE100 / 23 / 000060 of the WINE group of the IN3.

The aim of the project is the design, implementation and evaluation of a low-cost RF passive sensor for soil moisture measurement. These soil moisture sensors should provide moisture information to a water irrigation system in an agrovoltaic scenario.

Responsibilities

  • Research into optimal low-cost sensors to monitor soil moisture, and materials and antennas to maximize the reading range and measurement quality.
  • Simulation and validation of the proposed designs and materials.
  • Implementation and measurement of parameters in the laboratory of the finalist designs.
  • Aiding in the development of software that manages and processes the data generated by the sensors.

A temporary employment contract will be made until 30 September 2026 on a full-time basis with a planned start date of July.

The reference headquarters will be located at 22@, Rambla del Poblenou, 156, in Barcelona. However, at the UOC we work with an open work model that combines teleworking with face-to-face work, depending on organisational needs and the nature of the tasks.

What kind of profile are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's in Telecommunications Engineer, Electronics Engineer, or similar engineering skills.
  • At least one year's experience performing tasks similar to those described in the offer.
  • Knowledge of RF protocols
  • Knowledge of Wireless Communications
  • Knowledge of Backscatter technologies
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation.
  • Knowledge of Python, Matlab, R or other scripting languages.

We also value…

  • Experience in UHF RFID.
  • Knowledge of the UOC's educational model, structure, systems and processes.
