The Associate Director, XR and Hyperautomation Platforms is a leadership role reporting to the Senior Director RDU IT Solutions & Services. In this dynamic and influential position, you will be responsible for setting and overseeing the strategic deployment and delivery of hyper-automation, Mobile (mHealth), and Digital Health solutions, including Low-Code platforms based on the Microsoft Power Platform, and systems focusing on Virtual Reality (VR) and eXtended Reality (XR) technologies across various business units and therapeutic areas. Your role is to lead and oversee the development, deployment, delivery, and management of related technology solutions, ensuring they meet market needs, business and therapeutic area objectives, adhere to AZ ethical guidelines, and drive better business outcomes. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring a successful transition from ideation / concept to production and managing the entire lifecycle. You will engage with leaders at all levels of the global AZ organization to align plans, product roadmaps, and approaches.
Accountabilities :
- Participate in defining and setting standards for the execution and delivery of the related product vision, strategy, roadmap, and IT operations for Digital Health technologies focusing on XR / VR, aligning with AZ strategy, BU goals, and broader long-term ambitions.
- Ensure governance (internal teams and vendors) to deliver approved business cases within tolerance, on time, within budget, and with quality, working with functional management to resolve issues.
- Collaborate with Alexion’s Commercial and Medical teams, and expert functions to build the Digital Health Strategy for therapeutic areas, including engaging subject matter experts, recruitment, retention, endpoints, clinical outcome assessments, decentralized digital health solutions, and other digital capabilities.
- Champion the use of Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Virtual Agents) across the organization, educating stakeholders about its capabilities as a low-code solution for addressing business needs and automations in an agile, self-service model.
- Work with IT Business Partners to promote low-code solutions, develop business cases, ROI analyses, and engagement materials.
- Create templates, use patterns, and communities of practice to facilitate engagement, share best practices, and measure efficiencies from low-code solutions, ensuring compliance with legal, legal, regulatory, and cybersecurity standards.
- Coordinate with AstraZeneca IT teams to align on best practices, roadmaps, and features of the RDU low-code ecosystem.
- Develop KPIs, operational metrics, engagement, and success criteria for the lifecycle of low-code solutions.
- Build and maintain a library of solutions and practices to enhance digital health innovation readiness, collaborating with AZ teams to prioritize capabilities that drive business value and patient outcomes.
- Promote initiatives in strategy, governance, and new ways of working by creating communities of practice to build capabilities and upskill teams on digital health solutions.
- Manage risks, opportunities, and issues effectively at strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
- Conduct market research and analysis to inform the Digital Health product library.
- Prioritize and manage a portfolio of Digital Health use cases based on business needs, requirements maturity, and resources.
- Identify opportunities for Digital Health integration within different segments of the pharma value chain.
- Procure, evaluate, and collaborate with external agencies to develop and implement Digital Health products.
- Ensure products comply with pharma's MLR process.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hyper-automation, mHealth, and Digital Health Systems focusing on VR and XR, integrating this knowledge into product development.
- Facilitate communication between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to ensure project progress.
- Contribute to continuous innovation in Digital Health and related technologies within the pharmaceutical industry.
Essential Skills / Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Business Administration, or related field; master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years in product management or IT project delivery, with at least 2-3 years in Digital Health initiatives including XR / VR.
- Proven experience in product management, especially with low-code development and the Microsoft Power Platform.
- Strong project management skills, experience with Agile methodologies, and cross-functional leadership.
- Experience in Digital Health technology development, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Understanding of the MLR process in pharma.
- Technical skills in programming and software development related to Digital Health technologies.
- Strong problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Leadership skills with a proven track record of influencing change and driving product strategy.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a related field, with knowledge of regulatory landscape.
- Ability to innovate and foster continuous improvement within product teams.
- Flexibility for travel as needed.
- Experience with GDPR, privacy, legal, and digital impact considerations.
