Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled In-House Legal Counsel to oversee our legal department. This key role involves managing all legal aspects of our operations, focusing on Business Law and Data Protection under GDPR.
The ideal candidate will be proficient in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and will serve as our Data Protection Officer to ensure GDPR compliance. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence our legal framework within a dynamic startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Contract management: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, partners, suppliers, and employees to protect the company's interests.
- Compliance and risk management: Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, conduct risk assessments, and provide legal advice to mitigate issues.
- Data protection: Act as Data Protection Officer, implement strategies, handle data incidents, and maintain GDPR records.
- Legal advisory: Offer guidance on intellectual property, employment law, corporate governance, and compliance issues.
- Policy development: Create and update internal policies to reflect current laws and promote integrity.
- Litigation management: Handle disputes and coordinate with external counsel.
- Training: Conduct staff training on legal compliance and GDPR.
- Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate across departments to ensure legal compliance.
Minimum requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent in Law.
- Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
- At least 5 years of legal experience, especially in business law and data protection.
- Experience as a Data Protection Officer and GDPR expertise.
- Preferred experience in the tech or health sector.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
