Mechanical Design Engineer

Join a pioneering company in the photonics semiconductor sector as a Mechanical Design Engineer, where you'll apply your expertise in finite element modelling to solve complex packaging challenges and help shape next-generation technology.

Your Role Will Involve:

• Developing finite element models for wafer-level and unit-level assembly to optimise yield and minimise failure modes.
• Creating stress models focused on photonic device packaging to evaluate mechanical behaviour under realistic conditions.
• Performing reliability risk analysis and implementing design/material improvements to enhance mechanical integrity.
• Conducting multi-physics simulations, such as solder collapse and thermal-structural analysis.
• Communicating technical insights and findings across teams, including suppliers and customers.
• Writing automation scripts in Python to streamline modelling workflows and improve analysis efficiency.

What You’ll Need:

• A Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• 2+ years’ experience in finite element analysis.
• Proficiency in ANSYS and SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with 2D/3D packaging technologies and thermal-mechanical challenges in electronics.
• Hands-on experience applying FEM to microelectronics or computer hardware packaging.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
