Research Line / Scientific-Technical Services: Role of hypothalamic astrocytes in the regulation of food intake.

Working Days and Hours: Monday to Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (35 hours per week).

This contract is funded through the “BERCE PROGRAM FOR BENEFICIARIES OF RAMÓN Cajal GRANTS.”

The main tasks include:

  • Joining the FeMC group at CICA, under the supervision of Dr. Luis Varela Fernández, conducting experiments, and supporting laboratory organization and management.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and handling of primary cultures and cell lines, preparation of media, and cell stock maintenance.
  • Performing cell growth, viability, migration, and invasion assays using various inhibitors and drugs.
  • Using cloning, mutagenesis, transfection/infection, bacterial transformation, gene silencing (siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR), or overexpression techniques.
  • Assisting with orders, stock management, reagent and material control, and database creation and maintenance.

Note: The contract duration is from 01/09/2025 to 30/04/2026, due to funding limitations.

Qualifications: Degree, licentiate, or equivalent in Life Sciences / Biomedicine.

Additional Information:

Eligibility criteria include educational background, experience with molecular/cell biology techniques, cell culture experience, research grants/awards, research stays, and language proficiency.

Selection involves a scoring system based on merits and an interview, with a minimum score of 60 points to proceed.
