The role

We seek a PowerBI Data Engineer experienced in designing, developing, and optimizing PowerBI reports and dashboards embedded in web applications. The candidate should have a portfolio demonstrating their PowerBI work.

This role involves collaborating with Holtara’s Product and Development teams to create impactful data visualizations and analyses for our global client base, including investment managers and portfolio companies. You will work with product managers, UX designers, and developers to create, prototype, and deploy PowerBI models integrated into our software and client reports.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive PowerBI dashboards, reports, and visualizations aligned with our core offerings.
  • Develop and maintain data models within PowerBI.
  • Implement DAX queries and calculations to enhance model performance and functionality.
  • Coordinate with the technology team to connect PowerBI data models to data warehouses, ensuring security.
  • Optimize PowerBI performance for faster load times and data refreshes.
  • Collaborate with data and technology teams to improve data sources and connections.
  • Propose enhancements for usability and performance of embedded dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot issues in dashboards and reports.
  • Document data models, dashboards, and reports for consistency and future reference.
  • Work closely with client-facing teams to understand and develop custom dashboards for clients.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years of PowerBI experience, preferably in research, consultancy, or software development.
  • Proven skills in DAX, Power Query, data modeling, and visualization.
  • Understanding of databases, SQL, and data structures; experience with relational databases like SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with data warehousing and pipeline tools; knowledge of Snowflake is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working with large datasets and transforming unstructured data.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Collaborative attitude across teams and geographies.
