Sanoma Learning’s NPM train is looking for a BackEnd developer to join our vibrant, international team. We’re a group of enthusiastic, friendly, and talented individuals dedicated to revolutionizing primary education. As a BackEnd developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of our platform for primary education, used by tens of thousands of teachers and students. You will contribute to innovative solutions that meet the needs of educators and learners alike.

Role responsibilities:

• Developing and enhancing application features using Python 3.12, FastAPI, PHP 8+, and Laravel 9+ for the backend.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams and Service Engineers to improve system architecture, performance, and maintainability.
• Optimizing application performance for scalability and responsiveness.
• Deploying, managing, and monitoring microservices-based applications using Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).
• Ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval with MongoDB and MySQL.
• Following best practices in CI/CD (Bamboo and Bitbucket Pipelines), DevOps, and cloud-native development.
• Writing clean, modular, and well-documented code focused on reusability and maintainability.
• Conducting code reviews, writing unit and integration tests, and improving overall code quality.

Must-have requirements:

• +6 years of experience in Backend Development.
• Proficiency in Python 3.12, FastAPI, PHP 8+, Laravel 9+, and async/reactive programming.
• Strong knowledge of AWS infrastructure.
• Experience in debugging, maintaining, and supporting large-scale production systems.
• Expertise in designing and developing microservice architectures.

Database & Storage: MongoDB and MySQL

DevOps & Cloud:

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes (K8s) for containerized application deployment and CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket).
• Familiarity with AWS.

Agile & Best Practices: Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and a strong understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles.

Proficiency in English and Spanish (written and spoken) in an international environment.
