Job Purpose

Lead the strategic optimization, obtention, and protection of Vueling’s slot portfolio across all current and potential markets. Ensure alignment with the airline’s commercial objectives, regulatory frameworks, and operational capacity constraints to maximize network efficiency and enhance profitability.

Main Responsibilities - Tasks

Slot Portfolio Management:

  • Grow, protect, and optimize Vueling’s slot portfolio to support the delivery of the Company’s strategy.
  • Monitor slot portfolio performance through comprehensive analyses, ensuring optimal usage and identifying areas for improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with slot coordinators, representing Vueling in relevant forums and events to ensure the Company’s priorities are effectively communicated.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Network Planning, Scheduling, Revenue Management, Operations) to align departments objectives with Company’s objectives.

Regulatory Influence:

  • Influence slot regulations and guidelines development directly or through IAG, ensuring alignment with Vueling’s strategic priorities.
  • Anticipate and address risks to Vueling’s slot portfolio, including regulatory, operational, and market developments.

Innovation and Process Improvement:

  • Drive innovation by adopting digitalization and automation in slot management processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare recommendations on slot-related decisions, including and not limited to M&A opportunities and remedies, and report these to Vueling Management.

Team Leadership:

  • Organize and manage the team, promoting professional development, teamwork, and effective communication, in alignment with the Company’s values.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable slot management regulations and standards.

Main Relationships

  • Internal: Network Planning, Scheduling, Revenue Management, Operations, Strategy.
  • External:Slot Coordinators, Civil Aviation, IAG OpCos, Airlines Associations.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Aviation Management, Strategic Planning, or Regulatory Affairs.
  • In-depth understanding of slot management processes and regulations (IATA Guidelines, EU Regulation).
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
  • Advanced knowledge of airline operations and market dynamics.
  • Familiarity with digitalization and automation trends in slot management.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Slot Management, Network Planning, or Revenue Management.
  • 5-6 years as a Slot Analyst.
  • Experience in international slot regulatory frameworks.
  • Stakeholder management, lobbying, or strategic project delivery experience.
  • Proven ability to influence slot regulations and advocate for industry and organizational priorities.
  • Leadership experience in managing and developing teams.
