Why is a Senior Analytics Engineer important at Busuu?

Busuu is a deeply data-driven business. Every team, from Product to Marketing to Finance, relies on access to clean, timely, and actionable data. As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will play a critical role in structuring that data, ensuring it's accessible, governed, and empowers teams across the business to make better decisions faster. You’ll sit at the intersection of Data Engineering and Product Analytics, owning the transformation layer that turns raw data into trusted, scalable models for self-serve insights and operational dashboards. We’re also actively using AI tools to enhance development workflows and exploring new AI-powered solutions to improve our product experience and internal efficiency. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to this innovation by building the data foundations that support our AI initiatives.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and maintain clean, scalable, and well-documented data models
  • Ensure data quality through rigorous validation and testing
  • Optimize and maintain data pipelines to balance performance, reliability, and cost
  • Communicate clearly across teams, proactively sharing updates, writing documentation, and surfacing trade-offs or blockers

Our stack

We use AWS, Redshift, DBT, as our main tools, supported by several others. We're pragmatic and open-minded, investing in new tools when needed. We also integrate modern AI tools such as Cursor into our workflows to boost quality, speed up development, and free up time for innovation.

You’ll thrive in this role if you

  • Have a strong foundation in data modeling and experience with DBT
  • Understand how to write clean, efficient SQL and build production-grade data transformations
  • Value autonomy and ownership, but know when to collaborate
  • Have excellent communication skills, especially when explaining data choices to non-technical stakeholders
  • Are excited by scale, complexity, and the opportunity to make an impact at a global level
  • Are curious about AI and want to contribute to innovative, data-driven product development

Benefits

  • Well-equipped, centrally located offices with free breakfast, snacks, and fresh fruit
  • Two free lunches per week at our office from a wide selection of local restaurants
  • Private Health Insurance scheme
  • Personal training budget for professional growth
  • Flexible working hours and hybrid work model
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Team social activities including lunches, socials, and company events

What Happens Next

We aim for a simple, quick hiring process:

  • CV application review
  • Quick chat with our team about your experience and the role
  • Interview with the Hiring Manager
  • Technical Interview
  • Cultural interview with colleagues/stakeholders

Our platform and workplace embrace diversity and inclusion, providing a safe and judgment-free environment where everyone’s voice is valued. If that sounds like you, join us. We look forward to hearing from you.
